My only revolver currently. An old S&W .38 special loaded with Federal JHPs with that blue nylon type coating. (Nyclad?)

I have always liked these, but not enough to buy one.

Doesn’t look like it would be usable with a speed-loader.

M15 with target hammer and trigger?

Doesn’t look like it would be usable with a speed-loader. Neither is a Peacemaker. It also comes with moon clips and will shoot 9mm too. In tests it's more likely to get a accurate first shot from less experienced users. Much more accurate than most revolvers. Cylinder flips out to the right. Low felt recoil and muzzle flip make it much faster.

My speed-loader reference was to the Zenk RZMK that Zach posted.

My speed-loader reference was to the Zenk RZMK that Zach posted. Gotcha. I have no idea how that one works. I haven't seen any reviews of it yet.

I just saw this new Taurus revolver. Seems like everyone is trying to make space pistols. Be interested in how it shoots though.

Ridiculous. A design disaster. If someone gave me that thing I wouldn’t be able to get rid of it fast enough.

I never got the handgun hunting bug. I take a kinda simple-minded approach: At some point you need a rifle. I do that mostly out of respect for the critters.

M15 with target hammer and trigger? Bob, I believe so but I'm not entirely sure. It was my wife's great grandfather's and his favorite revolver. It's got the nice wide hammer to it and a pretty wide trigger as well. It shoots just like a dream.

That's a compensator on the front, and they shortened the barrel shroud so it wouldn't interfere. I think they should have used at least a 8 inch shroud, but it probably works fine.

Anyone got a Dan Wesson revolver? I shot one years ago and I remember it being sweet. A real target pistol. Can go from a 10"to a 2" barrel in 5 minutes. The blueing looked like a Python.

Long admired the DW revolvers. Never seen one in person.

I’ve never owned one myself. Have handled a few. I don’t care for the hammer and how the grips mount. The lock work on the ones I handled did not impress me. Interchangeable barrels is interesting, but in practice, I would see little value in being able to do that. For me a 4” 357 or 44 will do many things well. If I wanted a 6” or longer, I would just get a dedicated model for hunting or target shooting.

K series, K Frame
3K31,280 – 5K6,616.....1972
It's a K series, K Frame from 1972. Stamped at the bottom 5K47xxx and this info comes from a listing that was taken from S&W historian Roy Jinks. Other interesting info I've been comparing is I seem to have a Model 15, but have a Model 14 hammer. I have the much fatter "whole thumb width" hammer that the Model 14 seemed to have, but otherwise no target crown of the Model 14 and also seem to have the Model 15 sight notch. Still when comparing the hammers mine seems to have a Model 14 hammer. No other stamping on mine besides the S&W emblem, Made in USA stamping, and the serial.

Zach— You missed a marking. Inside the crane, on the frame, you will find the model number and, ater a dash, the series number. Like “M14-3.” Also, there is no such critter as a “Model 14 hammer.” Hammers are interchangeable across the entire K-frame line. K-frame hammers were narrow, medium, and wide or “Target,” such as you have. (Also spurless DAO hammers such as specified by the NYPD and other agencies.) Same with triggers, sights, grips, etc. All interchangeable. The M14 was also called the “K-38” and in its day was THE target handgun for 38 Special. The M14 was called the “Combat Masterpiece.” These pre-lock K-frames are ALL masterpieces in my opinion. Don’t let anybody talk you out of yours!

When my FIL retired from the Houston Chronicle newspaper the rest of the pressroom chipped in and bought him a stainless Combat Masterpiece. All I remember is that it was a really nice gun. This was in 79 I think. He tried to give it to me, but I thought he should keep it. I don't think it was ever fired. It's now with my wife's sister's third husband in Connecticut.

I think that would have been a M-67. The early ones were ALL stainless, even the sights, front and rear. Bad decision. I swapped out the rear sight on mine with a regular (black steel) unit. Couldn’t do anything about the front except blacken it since it’s integral. Saved the original rear of course for collector purposes.

CORRECTION: Above I said the M14 was called the Combat Masterpiece. Actually that’s the M15. Sorry. The M18 was a .22 version of the M15.

I bought my stepson a Model 14 some years back. It was the target version of the Model 15 with a six inch barrel. Very nice piece.

I think the M14, AKA “K38”, antedates the M15. Correct me if I’m wrong.
