That’s the original Colt-style firing pin. Older S&Ws have the same system, but Smith calls it a “hammer nose.” The original Colt firing pin is pinned into the hammer face. It does not have the safety mechanism that Uberti is putting in a lot of their single actions. I would just as soon have the simpler original as shown below:

Thanks. I didn’t know they had messed with it. A solution nobody asked for. (Except maybe their legal beagles.)

I'm thinking about getting a Rossi RP63. I don't have a 357, even though I have a ton of reloading stuff for it. It's getting rave reviews and I like it. I had a 3" Rossi 38 Special that was excellent and I kick myself for selling it. This is the same size but in the magnum. Stainless too.

Don, what’s the yoke stamp on your .22?

Rossi has been thought to be “cheaper Taurus.” I bought one for my dad and found it to be a very good little 38. Very well made. It was a pleasant surprise.

I read Rossi makes a quality firearm at a price which is affordable.

Don, what’s the yoke stamp on your .22? It is a pre-model number made in 1956. Serial number is on the base of the butt.

Thanks, Don. I was wondering if it were model-marked. Mine’s an M18 “Combat Masterpiece.”

It could be had with several different widths.

I read Rossi makes a quality firearm at a price which is affordable. I've just had the 3 so far. I never stressed them with a lot of shooting. My nephew has 4 Taurus revolvers that have many hundreds of rounds through them and he hasn't had any issues. They are the Tracker series. My Rossi 44 Magnum is exactly the same except for a shorter barrel. I've put 2 50 round boxes of 44 Magnum and 3 50 round boxes of 44 Special through the Rossi 44. It's so much fun, it hurts so good.

I just placed an order for a Rossi RM64 357. I just like that pistol and the NFA dealer is a friend. They are getting great reviews and people are saying they the finish puts their new Smiths to shame. $470 out the door.

Let us know what you think of the DA trigger.

I looked at that one on the Rossi website and was impressed. Let us know what you think of the DA trigger. The double action is getting good reviews, smooth and 10-12 pounds. Single is 2 pounds. You know why I bought this? I had those 2 boxes of 38 Special +P with the 158 grain Keith's at 1250 fps, and I don't want to shoot them in the 38. Plus, everyone needs a 357. And I have components for a thousand rounds. 😁
