I also have not shot anything since dispatching a rattlesnake at the back door. I could have used a shovel but wanted to shoot my Colt Commando. I have one of those steel plate targets that flips when struck. I need to set that up in the yard with the wood pile as a backstop. It will bother the dog but she will get over it. I have spent much time dry firing with snap caps and have the DA trigger down well enough. I used a Heritage 22. 😐

Bizarre ad. They're in some sort of public, cafeteria setting. The guy appears to be doing nothing besides maybe trying too hard. "Find him annoying? Shoot him!" They needed some very different artwork for that ad. Yep, not anything I recognize. I wonder if that isn't a fake.

Yep, it's fake, circa 2017. This really wasn't a problem that rated shooting in the 50s

The kids were from a toothpaste ad, with the guys face digitally disfigured. The revolver picture was from a legitimate ad from Colt. Curiously, the price in the 1970s ad for the Colt was $149. That would be $5900 today!

My Cobra from 1963 is unshrouded. Shrouding began with the DS. Even the Colt Agent and Cobra were not shrouded until the mid '70s at the earliest.

It was a repost of some humor guys. Holy cow! The ongoing analysis….. I take Colt revolvers seriously. If someone is going to parody they ought to "get the facts straight and then distort them". Mark Twain's advice holds true.

Certainly reading the text helps indicate it is a parody. It is so well done, it appears authentic except for the gun model not matching the period. Colt had print ads before WWII that read something like this although this one goes into more detail than the original ads. I admire the author of this one for his efforts. It sure fooled me.

That’s the last parody type of ad I will ever post. I didn’t create it or think much of it other than it was kind of funny. Sorry I uploaded it. There is no reason to apologize. No offense taken.

It only took a few seconds while setting in the recliner watching Varney. No worries. After I read it, I knew it wasn't real, but a joke.

Placed a bid on Gun Broker for a Colt Official Police that was a bit tarnished. I was thinking of nickel plating it to match my Commando. Naturally, I was out bid in about 20 minutes. I put a reasonable price on it but there are just too many people willing to pay over top dollar. Sigh.

Mine (a heavy barrel) for which I did NOT pay top dollar. (1936)

Nice one! I wanted one with a five inch barrel but the one I bid on started with a real low price and I had hopes...

I used to really want one I've never shot a double action Colt

I have my wifes great grandfathers Colt Police positive in 32-20 WCF, the gun is in pretty decent shape, except for the barrel, it is badly corroded inside… I contacted Colt to see if they had any new old stock barrels, nothing.
Supposedly he never had to draw his gun in the line of duty as a SLC police officer/detective, but someone dropped the ball on caring for it.

That’s too bad. Sounds like someone fired BP or a corrosive primer and then failed to clean it.

Colt Police Positive in .32-20 with a five or 5 inch barrel is a sweet shooter. A friend had one with a six inch barrel and I recall it was accurate and pleasant to shoot.
As for it being an effective self defense cartridge, the Taos police chief in the 1940s was killed by a single shot before the shooter was overpowered. A sad testimonial to be sure but fact nevertheless.
Certainly, this cartridge has been eclipsed by the .38 Special and more modern cartridges.
