Evening patchers, Last night I had my first bowl of Five Bros and I’ll say, better than expected. Wasn’t as strong and fast burning as many reviews state. It is a pretty pure and no nonsense kind of tobacco. Burned well in the Medico Guardsman. This morning I enjoyed a bowl of HnH Daybreak, in the GBD with a strong coffee. It got pretty tasty about a third of a bowl in. Nice blend that one. I like how all the elements are discernible and has a nice lingering aftertaste.
Five Brothers was often rolled up into cigarettes in the old days. It can be used for both pipes and RYO.
The best pipe to use for FB in my opinion is a cob, preferably a small cob. I like it in the Pony Express. I like it best when I just wake up for that quick smoke to get me started in the morning.
Its a great tobacco, and I am glad to see that you seem to be doing well.
UPS
I had some 5B in a legend today and it was nice. I’ll have to try it in my taster cob and check it out. It definitely looks like some RYO the way its cut. It doesn’t seem to have that lingering “cigarette” oder though. Also tried some Scotty’s Trout Stream today, pretty nice, not as sweet and butterscotch as it smells which was nice. I was expecting it to be overly sweet but it turned out pretty tasty, and a decent mustache note. Doing ok i guess, could be worse for sure. Hoping my efforts pay off soon.

That is such a beautiful pipe. Kudos to Ron. PS Proper English in a bent Rhodesian smooth finish and a clear acrylic stem with a 9mm filter. Last of the red wine blend we had with dinner.

2015 University flake in a ‘52 Tanshell.... colder than all get out.
Even though I am in a non smoking hotel, my suite has a balcony, electricity is free, and the heat freely carries the smoke out the door.

Some gifted GLP Cairo (from Scrooge) in a Peterson Shanon 80s bent bulldog with a vulcanite stem. These pipes can be difficult to stay lit at times; but they really are a clenchers dream. OLD OLD OLD Peterson design but still so ergonomic. Amazing. The blend? Its satisfying, one that will definitely need to grow on me. I do love oriental tobaccos. Photographed: Common American Evening Bat.
