I was supposed to go to a neighbors for dinner but truck has flat tire. Tried to get a ride with someone else but no response. It is hard to get any kind of help here. People mostly do not want to be bothered. So, I guess I will boil up more whole wheat spaghetti and heat up some of my sauce and meatballs.

I am sorry john that you are going to miss the dinner party. But you have spaghetti and fermented vino on hand so that is a win. You will need garlic bread.

Back home in the comfort of our own home and having soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for supper. Life is OK. There is no place like home. Me? Mostly in the leather covered old easy chair which was my Dad's back in 1960. By the wood stove with a NY Times Crossword. I don't ask for nor expect much more than that. Soon enough it will be Spring and I will go back to work dealing with irrigation, irrigators, irritation, etc.

I have been getting pretty spoiled with baked goods this week. My wife has made her exceptional buttermilk biscuits as usual, but she has been also been making some fine breads to have as morning toast or to dip in olive oil and other spices. Some steamed buns we ate with lovely roasted eggplant, garlic and onion in the clay cooker. Also on the menu this week scratch brownies and banana walnut bread. I have a suspicion that a pie may be soon to come.
Glad there was still a good woman out there for me. I am not one to celebrate holidays really, but I am thankful on this Valentines Day!

Getting ready to eat at the best Indian restaurant for many miles, can't wait. Hoot, Mon! I am right behind ye. A full report would be appreciated. Started off with veggie pakora and a Taj Mahal, main course was chicken tandoori with plenty of naan bread. Brought some back and had second dinner. The place we go to still uses the traditional oven, so everything comes out flawless.

So I was low on coffee so my wife bought me coffee and cream and left it work, then she stopped and got me coffee and cream then she bought me coffee and a new cup for Valentines day. So we have over three pounds of beans on hand.

I added a little marinated bean salad liquid with the olive oil and that gave it just enough vinegar and herbs a boot. Hug pot, I wish you guys were around! This is not an expensive dish. Old chicken carcasses from feeding me and the dog made up the stock. The beans and vegies are cheap. I try make something good with limited $$ but much time. Time I have in abundance. $ not so much. The Romano was the expensive ingredient but a little goes a ways.

It wasn't as bad as I expected from what I had heard, but it was great to get back to the French pressed Community. We might consider a Keurig in the future. I think I will have another cup in the meantime.

So, supper was a little left over Chuck Steak, part of a chicken breast, sliced sweet potato, all in an iron skillet with sautéed Brussels Sprouts on the side. A-1 Sauce in evidence.
