Someone is living right! Me? I have a large round steak cut into cubes, floured and browned, in a Dutch Oven with onions, garlic, spices and a lot of red wine. Slow cooking in the oven. Will serve on noodles or potatoes or rice or dead flowers. Ron and myself live in the land of green meat heaven as for the asparagus it was on sale for 1.99 a lb. Now you have given me a idea as bone on New York strip were on sale and I have egg noodles and sour cream and a few fresh green peas. I can make extra you bring the fresh bread. I will be there directly.

Pork Chop, and Gravy with Rice, and Salad..I can eat Rice but I prefer Potatoes Ditto! So, I slow cooked that large diced Round Steak, dredged in flour, in Pinot Noir, onions, garlic and spices for some hours. I did not have any bacon on hand, so a little fine diced ham went in there. Came out tasting a lot like Beef Bourguignon. Served on small boiled gold potatoes. Steamed Swiss Chard. All in all, most satisfying.

A good tortilla is a wonderful thing. I like to make them fresh at home. Flour, Of course, I have never mastered forming corn tortillas. Man, I think one has to be an old Indio Mexicana woman to be able to hand form corn tortillas.

Flour is pretty easy to master but your right corn tortillas are a lost art form, Most store bought corn tortillas are very dense so I was surprised by these. I am thinking green enchiladas now, but I do not have the makings on hand. I am also out of Hatch chilis frozen or otherwise. Other areas of the pantry are brimming full with the making for more cultured eats.

It wasn't elk, but it was Kroger certified organic grass fed from the used meat case. $1.99. The buns were off the day old bread rack at $1.49/8. It was a half bag of the curly fries that were on sale at 2 for $5. The Sloppy Joe sauce was from Aldi @$0.89. So I fed the family supper for $4.89. Sometimes I spend twice that much. For each dollar I spend at Kroger, I get 2¢ off each gallon of gas I buy there. My truck holds 24 gallons at the usual fill up and I get a dollar off a gallon, twice a month. There is no place cheaper to live than here. We actually eat really good and healthy 80% of the time and when we're bad, it's not that bad. No cheese cake, potato chips etc.

I brought home some Bismark style donuts, ate two and put the rest and their plastic wrap into the woodstove. I do not know what demon made be buy them except he was a fat one.

Trip to Chappell Hill so i now have jerky and smoked deer sausage link like jerky and 2 packages of pork sausage with feta and spinach. I had to use a five lb drilling hammer to get the sausage in the freezer. John if times are hard i can send you more dried beans so you can make beans soup. Also all cooking on GFG must be complete with cooking times and heat settings like Ed does for us. www.chsausage.com/

Just finished eating out at a local BBQ joint. Burnt ends, ribs and fried okra. Enjoying a chaw and a Sparkling Ice soda while watching some basketball. Perusing the forums.
