Years ago, Gallo White Port in a 12 ounce bottle was the favorite of Winos all over the skid row of San Francisco. What was the libation of the "leisure" class has become fashionable and is now quite good.

It's 18% ABV, so not too bad to help me sleep.

Gloomy, chilly, breezy afternoon.
Perfect for a Wild Turkey 101 Whiskey-Sour.

Bottled a homemade Amarone today. There was 1 glass left over, which usually happens. It gives me a chance to see how the wine turned out - even if it's a little "green". It's only 5 1/2 months old. Wasn't bad. It should age into a real good wine. BUT - I found that young red wine and pipe tobacco don't complement each other!

We offered a nice one from southern Italy at my restaurant years ago. It became popular. If you are making your own, then I salute you!

Opened the first bottle of Green Apple Riesling today. I made this for my wife. The only wine she will drink has to be sweet and fruit flavored.
I was surprised how good it turned out. Very bright and refreshing. Sweet but still tangy. But not sweet enough for the wife. So, I filled 12 bottles for me. Then I added 2 cups of sugar to the remaining 3+ gallons and added ~15 ml of Torani Sugar Free Vanilla flavoring to each bottle bottle as I filled them (18). She is very happy with her "Sweet Caramel Apple wine. That's what we opened today. It was actually quite good. I would put it up against any store bought sweet fruit wine.

It's not bad working in the garage in July, just out of the freezer. It makes a decent slush.

all i drink these days is hahn superdry. aussie beer that's low in carbs and almost 0 sugar. thinking more about the waistline with the meds i'm on (which make it easy to lose control of your weight)... it's not a bad drop anyway.... usually smash 2 in quick succession of an afternoon. on saturday nights i drink jack daniels mixed with a little vanilla coke, or maybe a bit of vodka with some tonic or something - that's my "jukebox saturday night" night... jukebox is a show on aussie televsion that plays a bunch of great classic hits... and after that is the "schlocky horror picture show" which is a good laugh. they play some daggy old horror movies.

Second back-to-back cup of Peet's coffee, dark roast while finishing a Brick House Maduro and watching the evening sun disappear behind the hills.
