The timing is funny.
Last night we finished off a bottle with the family of Grangestone 21 year single malt, that was some good stuff, and it was free also.

A nice big glass of my vino da tavola. (Don’t laugh— the wine I mix it from is at least a week old!)

Medium roast coffee with a bit of eggnog instead of creamer.

Drove just over the border to the liquor store at Helen's house. Looking for Wild Turkey 101. She usually has a few bottles on hand. Nope, not this time. So, had to make do with Maker's Mark, vastly inferior but acceptable. Poor planning on my part. I just wanted a couple of drams for the New Year.

I finally got to the local liquor store for a bottle of Bailey's, but they had one bottle at $66. So I got a small bottle of Ryan's Irish Cream.

I have enjoyed both their Bourbon and their Rye. Good quality. They offered a cask strength or higher proof Bourbon which was excellent. A little hard to find in these parts.

Knob Creek is a small step above Makers to me. But that's just my personal opinion. I like Bakers and Old Granddad.

Proper Twelve Irish Whisky on the rocks, smooth and very pleasant, easy to drink whisky Irish, namely Bushmills, was the first whisky I drank. Me and a bud split a 1/5 when we graduated from High School. Sat in a park and polished it off. My pal was an Irish kid and nothing else would do. Staggered home drunkenly. Was drunk the next day when I woke up. No puking. That Irish sits lightly on the stomach. Good stuff! I might have to pick it up again. I believe there is a wee dram of Paddy's in the back of my liquor cabinet. Bushmills is whiskey. Not whisky. Me, I’m having a couple of Italian-style glasses of my Graeco-Roman vino da tavola, along with a bowl or two. Pleasant and relaxing as the damn year dies the death it deserves so richly.

Too cold for that here!!! As much as I enjoy the lager. In the west of Ireland, Clare County, the old boys used to partly pull the cap on bottles of Guinness and then set them on the radiator. When the caps popped, the Stout was ready to drink. Ah, winter!

I just like the correct terminology when such important stuff is being discussed. Irish is whiskey and Scotch is whisky. I didn't make the rules. They are what they are. ('Whiskey' BTW comes from the Irish "Uisce beatha." Pronounced ISH-kah BAH-huh. Meaning "water of life." 'Nuff said.) Now YOU calm down!
