Typical day, went golfing with the boys. This time only nine holes as it got very cold, wet and windy. Over at the in-laws for dinner, get a good nights rest and suit up for another round of golf tomorrow.

How is the pain level?
For me, rising from a chair brings an audible cry. The pain is shocking. So, I had started with a loud laugh when I get up from a chair. Sounds better to those around me.
The pain....

Imagine not only my surprise, but the surprise of my fellow golfers when I misunderstood "shotgun start".

They tore the house down next door about a month ago, and finally finished taking down the house two doors over, yesterday. Needless to say, the backyard and everything in it was covered with brick dust. So I loaded up a Scottie yard pipe with some Epiphany and spent the early afternoon hosing everything down. Gave me the chance to finish up the fall yard work, which wasn't really much.

Snowing hard with wind blowing. Cold enough to be wearing two wool sweaters over heavy Carhartt Long Underwear and wool trousers. Winter!!!!
Got the 33 year old Land Cruiser started and drove to the PO. Only open for 90 minutes on Saturday. Kept locked most of the time.

Was a lovely day here today. Went for a walk to a dam nearby and thought about bringing my pipe. Didn't, in the end, but I should have.

Gray day here, 62 degs, not bad, but very damp, rain with a cold front tommorow, smoked on porch but it wasn’t nice.

Evening all. Had a nice little nap this afternoon after the yard work, then took about a mile walk around the neighborhood. I really haven't been getting out and moving around enough, so I need to get back to it. Did a nice zig-zag through our streets to check out people's Christmas decorations. Gonna get a fire going in the pit in awhile. Beautiful out tonight.

Cold and dreary here. A most unprepossessing day. The dogs wanted to go for their run but I told them there were dragons out there today and therefore it was too dangerous to go. They didn’t believe me but let me bribe them with cookie-biscuits after I started a fire in the fireplace they could lie down in front of.

It was nice here in Lakewood, WA once the mist burned off the moors (which how we refer to the fog in the park across the street. Guard drill for most of the day, on zoom, and then a series of small home projects followed by the spouse's need to watch Christmas Vacation and White Christmas. It worked out well.

Funny, I was just thinking tonight about how when I started the forum, I really tried to get the "What are you smoking" thread to be a hybrid. Essentially, "What are you smoking", combined with what this thread is. One of the forums I used to be a member of combined it all into one. We treated the "What are you smoking" thread as our daily diary, or daily chronicle I suppose. A few of our members here at the time were adamantly opposed. It seemed to interfere with their rhythmic posting one after another of their daily smokes.
Personally, I like the two combined. I think there is typically much more to my daily smokes than just loading a pipe and lighting it. There are often several things associated with the process, most of which are much more interesting than my pipe and tobacco in my opinion. Maybe it's something we can all think about going into the new year. Not that we are in need of space, or cutting down threads, but doesn't hurt to have one less thing to keep track of.

The last line of Mice and Men. “Now what the hell ya suppose is eatin’ them two guys?” . I once played Slim in the play and had to go to Salinas Ca to see the Steinbeck Museum years later I found out more about salad than John. Robert Burns is famous for the line of Mice and Men in his poem To A Mouse. See it was not wasted gas I did learn something at the Museum and also got to see Tortilla Flats just south of Salinas another great Steinbeck novel.

I believe what are you smoking with rambling is what it’s all about, not cut and dry, no humanity in that, the offshoot things likepuffy posts sometimes, human fraility, no ridged guidelines, that’s what it’s all about.

Makes sense to me also, with a restart of the thread monthly.

I made a joke about previously. Your sad reference to two of my friends here who ended their cancer pain in the manner you described brought back their memory. Two good men, neither were serious substance abusers while in better health.

That is awesome news John! You need to get someone to take care of your duties and head to Fiji for the winter! I am more of a Amalfi Coast or Greek Islands kind of guy. You know, lazily sailing from port to port, drinking Retsina, slurping olives, eating octopus and calamari. Think Zorba!
