June is the driest month in north central New Mexico. Seldom rains. Spring is over and the July monsoon has not yet begun. One year, my hygrometer registered Humidity at 7 per cent.
Laundry on the clothes line dries in one hour or less.

Yeah, in Texas we have to moisturize if it gets below 50% Not out here in West Texas. Its so dry I've seen blowing dust in a rainstorm!Β Yeah, the dust is what scared me off of living in Alpine.

Well, I got up here this morning to find everything soaked outside. It looks like it rained all night, and is still raining now.

I remember walking around outside Carlsbad one summer evening, waiting for the bat π¦ show, and talking about how comfortable it was. I checked the temperature and it was 104. Low humidity does make a big difference. Old women from California and Arizona look like tanned leather before they are 50 though. We always think they are older than they are.

I hear you. That's the rough part about dogs. They become part of you, then the vets say that you can cut your heart out or starve. Edit I was on the phone today trying to get homeowners insurance and Lacy was on my lap. The woman on the phone asked me if we had a dog and if it had ever bit anyone. I joked that she nipped me when I tried to take a pork chop bone and she said they would have to charge another $500 because my dog bit someone. I said I was joking and she said that it was too late "it was on tape". About then Lacy started licking my face. I guess I will just have to pay for whatever she needs. Oh Ron...that's not fair. Can someone not take a joke - and even if it's on tape, the tone of the conversation would be obvious to anyone with an ounce of intelligence. I work in the insurance industry. Based upon my interactions with some in the industry I can assure you that intelligence is most assuredly NOT a requirement for the job.

Rainy day today in northern California. Temperatures falling so should be a cooler week coming up.

Cant sit in the house all day, rain or not. Im gettin restless. Going in to the feed store to get some medicine for one of the horses, and price some fencing materials.
Then to the cigar store. I want to pick up a couple of those MUWAT Kentucky Dark Fired cigars and give 'em a try. And a torch insert for my zippo. This country is windy, and lighting up is a real chore sometimes.

I want to try a couple before I order some in. The milder cigars, like the Javas, are not really very satisfying any more.

Just finished tearing out 6 boxwoods and 6 ugly chartreuse evergreen bushes. I'm excited that I can cut up the boxwoods and use it for pipe adornments.

Haven't revisited for some reason. I do like alot of Drew Estates though. The Acid 1400, Kuba Maduros , and Nica Rustica's are guilty pleasures of mine

I have been running hard just two days into the week. But I am 16 hours ahead of schedule for the workday. I am hoping to be able to justify laying over in Patagonia Arizona as opposed to Nogales tomorrow.
Next week I am training a guy from a biker club, he is pretty hard core but we get on well. When your dad served in the Korean War, 3 tours of Nam, your son and brother were recon Marines and you have worked with hells angels in the 80βs and 90βs... it does offer a conditioning of sorts.
It is kinda funny... two bikers in our barn are of the same club, and they act all super macho on how they view their wives. Then I hear the conversation when traveling with them and they are Cedric Dimplemyer on their side of talking to βthe old ladyβ.
Kinda funny.

In the meantime I recommend regular Timeout sessions for you. (You I mean, go out to the shop / shed/ barn or whatever else and have a smoke for a few minutes.)

Went to the cemeteries today. I haven't been to my parents graves in 20 years and it's been 45 years since I visited my grandparents graves. This is the last time since we are leaving the area. The one where my parents and baby are buried is relatively small, about 12 acres or so, but the one that my grandparents are in is a monster. It's got to be 600 acres or more and has more twist and turns than an Irish road layed out by a drunken surveyor. We got lost and spent almost an hour driving around to find the exit. It was a quiet, scenic drive though.

I was in the Mesa cemetery about a year or so ago and saw a familiar face.

However, I really don't recommend it if you can possibly avoid it. Time does soften the hurts and besides, I am getting close to seeing him again.

It's not like these are my first kids... but it's really disappeared this time. The less there is, the faster it disappears Ronv69 I dread those days already

Cloudy and cool, but its supposed to clear up later, high of maybe 65Β°. I think Im sending a finished horse home today, if the owner dont flake out again on me for the 10th time. Then make room for a new customer horse coming in next week.
I gotta haul hay tomorrow, and go get some roping steers monday, so maybe the new horse comes in tuesday. Who knows. Just put your head down and keep pluggin' on.
