Yeah discount was the only company that rotated tires on my pickup, when my BFG’s needed replacing at 85 k, I went to Walmart as the pricing was better... they told me that I had a stripped stud... a few weeks earlier a buddy had warned me about discount doing that.
Got the new BFG’ (desert tracker?) and it felt like I had a suspension overhaul.... I am sold on BFG’s.

I certainly understand the value of pacing one's work when age creeps up on us. I have that issue trying to work around the place here. Zero degrees (F) this morning, warming to 12 degrees when I started the feeding and watering of critters. The snow is getting deep enough that one more snow fall and I will need snow shoes to get to the barn, water tanks and hydrant. It is tough getting through the snow now without them. I have to move slow and carefully so as to not fall, slip, pull something in me, break something like a hydrant, hose, tank, gate, tools. Everything gets tired in the cold. We just carry on as best we can, eh? That's really a great story but you left out how the barn Is uphill both ways and you have put out flags for clear days and rope to find you way in white outs. Something like that. It is a long walk for me now. Amazing how things change. Never thought about it years ago. Zero (F) this morning. More snow coming.

I need new rear tires and I hate spending money. The BFG KO2 only made it 92,000 miles with no flats the wife says she does not like them. I told her they have reinforced sidewalls and that's important when you play bumper car with every curb you have ever seen. They also have deep lugs important when you live in the swamp when you have to jump medians and getting unstuck after you pull off the pavement to take a w.. . So by the end of today I will be poorer and riding on new rubber. NTB is open today and I refuse to do business with another well know tire chain that has discount in the name anyway. The K02s are a must have if you are ever going to move that home out of Texas. Big difference with the "E" sidewalls. Worth every penny.

I would not have any tire other than an "E" unless it has more plys.
A neighbor put 14 ply aircraft tires on his stock trailer. It bounces on every bump now. That is one stiff tire but his cows are heavy and he tends to overload it.

Ended up with Advantage T/A Sport LT rated at 115tst that's 2700 lbs per corner that up a couple hundred lbs from the KO2. While not as aggressive looking as the KO2 they should do better in the rain and it do rain in the swamp. KO2 is probably the one of the worst wet weather tires out there. The tires are made in strange county called the US. They weigh the same as the KO2 so only time will tell if they hold up. Still run Michelin up front as that is my preferred steer tire but they don't hold up like they did back in the days of old. I used to swear by the x a true 100 thousand mile tire I was soured by the Defender with its built in bubble side walls and early failures.

This afternoon it was very noticeable that I am about to move. I paid two flunkies to load up everything outside. Shortly after that came they hey what are doing questions. The place wanted to move fell through when he wanted to raise the price by ten grand at the last minute. The second place leased out the space we wanted. So I found a temp spot that a least has concrete to park on. It also has a train track very close by and a busy road the bright side is it very close to Christy's work. The other thing it's dirt cheap. It will work until we know for sure where my wife's job is relocating the building to. The problem the wife has is working for a fortune 500 company is with all the mergers last year we really don't know where we could end up. Modern world problems.

Surely this will work out and you will find the right place to settle into. A place which is quiet, with trimmed grass and trees maintained professionally. Oh, wait, that is a cemetery. Sorry.

I cant afford a cemetery although I am moving from a cemetery rd. Rv parks around big cities come in a few types, housing for the working poor, places for old people to die, housing for people on disability, druggies and last people who pay more to park than a house payment and live in motorhomes that cost more than a house.

Why not try southern or eastern New Mexico? Less humidity, good food, nice people. You would fit right in.
Sorry, I forgot that your wife is working. That certainly won't work in NM.

Cold in Cajun Land 34 degs, Termite Crew here to redo a job that wasn’t done right, their ramrod is a former Marine, I know the job will be done right. My talk with the head man was a good one. Told the crew we would make them some hot choclate, they were receptive to the idea!

Snow drifting down all morning in western NY. Drive in was nice and smooth with a decent smoke to keep my spirits up. May have to make an emergency flight back to Texas in the morning due to mother issues. First day of classes today and plenty of ragamuffin students who think my job is to pass them on day 1 without them doing any work. Going to be a fun semester already. Ugh.

well, life has been busy. leading up to Christmas it was busy with visits to the hospital to catch therapists, nurse practitioners and social workers to figure out what do to with Mom. You can't call anyone, they won't return your calls, so basically my brother had to take time off work and sit in her hospital room until people showed up. We got her in a very nice rehab facility. Things seemed to be going well. We went over on Christmas Day and spent the evening with her. I even made great-grandma's potato salad and took some to her because she loves it. About a week after that my brother was called saying that Mom's insurance wasn't going to pay for her to stay longer. After some investigating we learned that Mom had plateaued in her therapy. We thought something was wrong because she never got out of bed when we were there. Her next session she did much better, actually improved and she was extended for a week, but then she insisted on coming home. She really was not ready. So she's been home for almost two weeks, she has been getting around a little bit, but not doing the things she's supposed to be doing and doing the things she isn't supposed to be (like climbing into the Xterra without anyone knowing....) We've had to tell her today that she will be fixing all her meals (they are just microwaved) because that is what physical therapy thinks she has been doing and is expecting her to do. My son lives with her, and he will carry her food to the table as that is hard for her to do walking with a cane, but she will have to do the cooking herself. As my father used to say when he was trying to get his father to take care of himself, "Parents are so hard to raise." She insists on going to church, which is good, but then she wants to sit in bed the rest of the time and be waited on hand and foot.
Hubby was off work for two weeks over Christmas and New Year's and spent most of that time helping a friend renovate his house. He hadn't been able to get anyone in to do any work. The first day we showed up there were two guys there, they were there 4 hours and put a toilet in the upstairs bathroom and charged the guy $600, that was two days before Christmas. Hubby was appalled and so made time to go over and help him out as much as he could. Needless to say, our "vacation" was not really very restful at all.
Two weeks ago I ended up in the ER. I got a bloody nose the evening before and it poured for the first 15 minutes then started slowing down a bit. Eventually it clotted my nostril closed and I was able to go to bed and sleep, but the next morning when I tested the clot it started leaking blood. I went to work with hubby, and it continued to leak blood occasionally so we went to the ER after work. I felt really silly because all they did was squirt half a bottle of Afrin up my nose. An expensive way to learn such a simple solution. But it was a very scary experience. i lost at least a pint of blood in the tub, it clogged the drain, we didn't get it unclogged until two days later using baking soda and white vinegar. For the next week I was quite light headed. I don't think the ER people believed I lost that much blood because I didn't have any blood on my clothes, but I had changed. I didn't get much on my gown anyway. My sister-in-law told me to take a good multivitamin and drink a lot to help build my blood count back up. I'm doing much better now. I have my humidifier running all the time and bought some saline to help keep my nose moist.
Hubby had to work out of town this past weekend, which was kind of nice, but long days. We got some good meals and was able to watch some of our favorite shows in the hotel room. I also found a couple Zippo pipe lighters at Walmart.
Today I woke up with a cold. Joy.

Wow Margaret... I have to say that your mother is blessed to have such a solid family that is there to support her in such trying times, and although your husband is in the military, you are soldiering on through a tough set of circumstances. I was plagued with bloody noses as a kid, even when I won a fist fight I looked like the victim.... I hope that your situation goes away, with time mine did.
I left Tucson this AM, went to Suahrita, Green Valley, Nogales, through Patagonia, Sierra Vista, Bisbee, Benson and landed in Willcox Az.
Driving through Southern Arizona today was incredibly beautiful... amazing Vistas, the cloud ceiling hovered over the mountain peaks, sun rays streaking through, neon clouds, and a mountain lion chased a deer in front of me.
I wish that in any of the instances, I could have pulled off and taken pictures, but shoulder-less roads in a commercial vehicle, it couldn’t happen. Finished the night off with a prime rib and a couple pints... one stop in Thatcher Arizona tomorrow, and hammer down to the barn!

Lady Margaret, that's an eventful few weeks. You're certainly honouring your mother - there's no doubt about that. It sounds tiring though. Good to see you around again.

Warmer this morning, 20s! Dense fog has settled into this enormous valley. The kind of fog we used to call "Tule Fog" in the central valley of California. Limited viability on the roads, even headlights are dimmed. Drivers cannot see each other or the large animals on the highway. Bad for driving. Probably will clear by mid day.
"Fuzz Bomb", my semi-feral, long haired, all black, kitty is here with a list of complaints. I believe he is leading an Impeachment effort to have me removed? That is the thanks I get!

Got a whole bunch of Cigars from a very generous man on this forum. Had to back off alcohol because of medication , been having a 40 bottle wine cooler long, unplugged it and turning it into a Cigar Humidor. Now I have to figure do I need a fan to circulate air in there, Any suggestions?

About four inches in a case. I should think stirring the moist air would be beneficial. Mold is likely your biggest threat.

Momma says the new tires are good in the rain so that's a win in my book. Speaking of rain we have plenty of that today with mid 40s temps.

Now I have to figure do I need a fan to circulate air in there, Any suggestions? I used an old phone charger and spliced it to an old computer fan(approx. 3 1/2" to 4 "). These fans can be even smaller if from an old laptop. Not sure which size would be ideal but its another idea. Mine is mounted to a thin pressboard that I cut a hole in to stick in the window as an exhaust for the back room. It is for my winter evening smokes when it's too cold for a pipe outside. Does a pretty good job for such a small fan. Hope this helps!
