Avoiding the fires in Arizona, the wife and I changed plans and for our 38th anniversary went to Camp Verde, Old town Flagstaff, Snow Bowl recreation area, and are in Williams tonight in wonderful weather. The Grand Canyon Brewery is next door to our hotel. Probably going to the Grand Canyon tomorrow, where the vistas always take my breath away. Then down to Prescott before we head home. I have an easy week in the desert of Southern Ca. next week before we celebrate the 4th of July. That sounds like an awesome trip. I hope you enjoy every minute of it.

I found 4 old pipes belonging to my grandfather, while I was going through my late father's stuff. Nice surprise! Top one is a Custom Bilt, then a Bentley, a Missouri Meerschaum with a bamboo stem, and a Kirsten.

Spent most of the day hanging out at Dad's again. I fly out monday, and Im so ready. There were 15 people there this evening. Its good to see family, but anything can become too much of a good thing. I gotta get back to work and my horses. This aint my world anymore.

Put 24 new plants in the garden. Purple peppers, white radish, green cabbage and Swiss chard. Planted close to 90 plants the last three days.

It hasn't rained here in a while so I spent an hour today watering all the plants..That keeps them alive but they need rain to make them grow.

Itβs been a huge project. Over 1700 square feet. We also have about 100 plants in the ground already that were started from seed

Picked up one of those wheeled string trimmers yesterday, 173 cc Chinese engine but it had good reviews. I needed a 10 mm socket to adjust the height and I didn't have one here and everything in town is closed. I drove down to Marshal to the Lowe's, thinking I would pick up a Kobalt socket set on the cheap. It's a sub-brand of Snap-on and has a good reputation and guarentee. I found that they're no longer cheap. At least to me. But they were only $20 more than Craftsman so I grabbed a $53 set and headed for the register. On the way I noticed a set of tools that had everything I had in my hand, plus a bunch of other tools. Pliers, hammer, 4 kinds of open ended wrenches, 48 screwdriver bits plus several regular screwdrivers, and much more. It in a big rolling case and was stickered $49!I asked the associate about it and she couldn't find anything. Decided it was leftover display merchandise and promptly marked it down to $30! It has basically the same tools that are in the $199 kit, plus a better case and a few extraa. It was Father's Day a week late! All with Kobalt's lifetime warranty. I felt like I just robbed the place. Got the string mower together and tested it out on the back yard. Works like a champ! Took out 1/2 inch weeds like nothing and the string is still good. πππππππππ€ π€ πππππππ

I catch my plane out of Nashville at 9:30 tomorrow morning, get in to Spokane 9:00 tomorrow night. With a 4 hour time change. If they wanna come find me after this to travel somewhere any time soon, they're gonna have to burn the stump and sift the ashes.

I have not been any further than 200 miles in many years. I do not even like to drive to town.

Top one is a Custom Bilt, then a Bentley, a Missouri Meerschaum with a bamboo stem, and a Kirsten. That's a great wee find there. I think there would be something special in smoking a pipe that was in the family line. Put 24 new plants in the garden. Purple peppers, white radish, green cabbage and Swiss chard. Planted close to 90 plants the last three days. Holy moley that's a lot of work. Plants and I don't get on. Fair play to ya. Just sitting on the back patio, trying new tobaccos. Usually pretty cool even though it's on the south side of the house. A big tree close by seems to provide a bit of natural AC. But man, yesterday and today the humidity is so high, it feels like I'm in Puerto Rico!

Welp, the boat runs. For the second time in my driveway. Getting ready for vacay. Can't get up there, and have the boat not run!

I finished up at Loweβs in Yuma today and there was a Howard Johnsonβs across the street to hunker down at... a lot of good dining choices nearby. On to El Centro and Brawley tomorrow after servicing a Yuma account, then on to Blythe Ca.

On to El Centro and Brawley tomorrow after servicing a Yuma account, then on to Blythe Ca. Admittedly I don't travel as much as I did at one time, but I'm very surprised to hear that there are still some Howard Johnson's operating. I thought HJ was a once popular brand name like TG&Y that had disappeared a long time ago! I've been scared to take a driving vacation trip this year because of the CV pandemic. Have you felt really safe "health safety wise" in hotels and motels in your travels since the CV pandemic became part of normal life?

The company that I work for was far ahead of anything that I heard about in public discourse regarding the recent pandemic, by a couple months.
I work for a company that is sensitive towards anything that can compromise health. Weekly, we get supplies of latex gloves, M95 masks, hand sanitizer, wipes, and hospital quality sprays. They suggested spraying down the room, and anything you would touch. Leave the room, and go have a beer we are told.
We maintain social distancing, and my recommendation to have us sign all paperwork on behalf of our customers made it to the desk of the CEO in one day and was approved.
I am probably safer than being at home.π

We had a quick shower and I kept mowing. and THAT is why I don't care to live in humidity. It's really a shame because I do so miss the sea, but coastal towns have that humidity...

At first I pulled up to the Hojoe motel, it looked dated on the outside, but the room is immaculate and up to date. It only costed $65 bucks, so it probably makes the boss happier than the $200 per nite I spent at Hopiday Inn Express in San Diego.
