That is mighty fancy. I figured on something more traditional for you bedside table. "I want an Astra 400!" said nobody, ever. It's one pistol that's never been copied. LOL! So true. I remember in the 1960s, when Euro import guns were cheap, Sand Francisco Gun Exchange could not give the Astra away.

This is the Jennings .32acp made by the famous Bruce Jenner who happens to be the son Raven Arms founder George Jennings. I have never seen one these that was not broken. Everyone I do mean everyone had one of these back in the 80s. I believe that when you bought a milk carton of BB's this was taped to the bottom of the carton.

Thatโs why I like my 12 gauge. Got 00 followed up by slugs...head shot will pretty much do it with a handgun, but with a shotgun...well, let's just say the 00 or slugs will certainly "cure" the problem.

It was supposed to be a copy of the Baby Browning. They forgot to copy the part that makes it work. I refurbished a Browning for my piano teacher many years ago and I was surprised at how simple it was with high quality machining. It was made long before CNC machines.

I went to a gun show today and picked up a Springfield Armory Hellcat HC9319B. 13+1 in 9mm, I ordered 4 more magazines from Midway USA, I already have a holster and double mag pouch that conceal nicely and fit the hand really well. After putting it through the paces, I believe that this will soon be my travelling companion. Best of all, the magazines are not California compliant, assuring me that it is a good reason to not go there.

Not every one from California is a anti gun anti tobacco anti common sense. But we are definitely a very small minority. My comment is about the powers that be. I was talking to a guy that sells ammo, and he is based in California. He told me about how he has to perform background checks on buyers at every transaction. Me: Doesnโt that just insure that people drive to Nevada for ammo? Him: If a car with California plates, brings ammo into California, and the ammo is seen by LEOโs, they better have a California receipt, or it is a felony... he went on to say that he has heard several say that California employs people to drive through gun show parking lots in Nevada recording California plates. Then when they go through the border crossing they are flagged for โrandom checksโ.

If you drive into Maryland, they have cameras that take pictures of your license plate and compare the registration to a list of all CCL licensees in the US. If you are a match they try to stop you and find a reason to search your car. Sounds like Utopia, doesn't it?

It has become a very difficult place to live. My wife and I have been looking at other places to retire. We love guns God fishing hunting trucks growing a garden and cutting firewood and we dont live in town. Where would you pipe smokers think we should move to? I grew up in Humboldt County Ca. Had to move when they pretty much outlawed logging.

Had to move when they pretty much outlawed logging. You have a lot of options, and it really depends on needs and preferences. If you are retired and have any health issues you might want to live near a place that has decent medical facilities. My wife has orthopedically travelled a rocky road, so living where it gets cold is out of the question. We live in the greater Phoenix area, the winters are great, but we earn them with our summers we face. But, you really donโt have to go far from Phoenix to end up in country that is heavily forested. Payson, Greer, Heber Overgaard. To the north of Phoenix is the high desert and it is nice, Cottonwood, Prescott, Sedona...and it is temperate. But Sedona is pricey, and Prescott is starting to be overgrown with fleeing Californians. North of that gets pretty cold in the winters, Williams is nice and so is Flagstaff, but bring your long johns. Tucson is a bit cooler, and south of there it is very temperate... I like pine top and show low. I think my plan will be when I retire to stay near PHX get an RV, and travel mostly up to Montana and Idaho to hang out during a long stretch of the summer. I am sure that there are a lot of other places that have a lot to offer.

I agree the end of logging and reduction in commercial fishing changed northern California. We ended up in northern New Mexico.

Yeah, groups like the Sierra club think that forest decimation is better than responsible logging.... pretty sad state of affairs.

Here my very first 9mm. TriStar S-120. It's an all steel, service size weapon (CZ 75 clone style) and weighs in at 2.25 lbs, close in size to a 1911. I like that. Double/single action with rear dovetail sights and a fixed blade front sight. It also has a black cerakote finish and black plastic checkered grips. It comes with two 17 round magazines, cleaning kit, bicycle lock and a case.

Good choice, Kevin. I have a CZ-75B (the Rolls-Royce of 9mm auto-pistols IMO!) and wanted a compact version. But CZโs Compact is steel frame and only weighs less than 2-oz less than the full size pistol. SO I tumbled for a Tri-Star T-100 (or C-100, for Canik, these are Turkish pistols) which has an alloy frame and is thus carry-able. I was very impressed with this pistol: accurate, never balks never matter what I feed it, easy to take down, and just over half the price of the CZ Compact. The grips HAD to go so I replaced them. It comes with 15-rd mags but will take the full-size CZ mags. (Even a 32-rounder I bought for the CZ, fun.) I do not hesitate to tote it for SD purposes.

I'm not much of a pistol guy, but I do have an old Colt Woodsman 22 that was my grandfather's. His left arm was amputated at his elbow as the result of a farming accident when he was a young man, so no rifles for him. Reportedly, he was a crack shot with the Woodsman. It is still a reliable pistol and fun to shoot. I also have a "Baby" Browning semi-auto .25 ACP that belonged to my late Father-in-law. No one knew he had it until I discovered it while removing his shotguns and rifles from his house after he moved to a care facility. I suspect he acquired it at the same time he purchased a Browning Sweet 16, probably had it thrown in as part of the deal. For the life of me I can't imagine the utility in that pistol. I'm guessing you would have to be awfully close to your target to hit it and if that target was malicious in nature, you would still be in trouble. But, it is an interesting gun nonetheless. One of these days I may actually shoot the thing at a can or something!

One of these days I may actually shoot the thing at a can or something! A Colt Woodsman is a great pistol. I can only dream about owning one. If I had all the money I wasted on Rugers, S&Ws, and other cheaper 22s I could have had one. They are easy for me to shoot. I would be thrilled to take the Baby Browning off your hands. ๐. Ask for volunteers to be shot with it. Any gun is better than no gun and there's no excuse for not carrying that little gun. I repaired one for my music teacher and I shot a box of 50 cartridges through it. I hated to give it back. The pluses are, easy to conceal, easy to point and shoot in close spaces, you can put 6 rounds in some no-good in about half a second, they are well made and will outlast you. The 6 rounds will have more energy total than a 10mm.
