Pretty much sold out of everything I am interested in. Did find a nice Peruvian made FAL rifle with 21 inch barrel. $1450. Out of stock but maybe they will get more in?

They get good stuff in all the time and sell out. I've bought 3 guns from them over the years. I missed out on the Russian 30 cal revolver with the sealing cylinder. My nephew got one for $99. They are fascinating just for the way they are made and the workmanship. Sign up for their email list.

Wondering if the Chinese made ones are better workmanship than eastern Yerup? The Chinese can do fine work when motivated.

You can make ammo for the Nagant revolver from 32-20 cases.

I had a feeling they might try harder than Soviet Slave States.

After getting a haircut this past Friday in Taos, went next door to the gun shop. Looked at the autoloaders. examined a S&W model 59. Lovely piece but my fingers are too short for the double stack magazine. Trigger contact is on the edge and that ain't good. So, I am limited to single stack like the their Model 29. They also had a Rock Island 1911 "Commander" clone. While I liked the price, the finish on the these RI pistols is crude. Affordable at $500+ but that finish bugs me. I wonder if the slide could be polished post purchase to look more appealing? From what I read, RI 1911s meet expectations of reliability. Accuracy is limited to the original design which is enough for me at close range, I should think. I still prefer a 5 inch barrel on 1911s as that is what I know best of all.

You should look at the Tisas 1911s. Well made and accurate. Mine has a brushed stainless finish that I could polish if I cared.

I think you meant Model 39. 29 is of course an N-frame 44 mag revolver.

Try a Hi Power. Nothing fits my hand like a Hi Power. They point like the finger of God.

Never shot a Hi-power. I've shot 59s,39s and 52s. They work best for me than any other autos. I was just never in a position to buy one. Would love to have had a 39. I shot 1911s so much that I could keep it on the target with my eyes closed.

I don’t think your short fingers will apply to the P35. The grip is fantastic. I’m betting it would work for you.

The best gun I have ever owned was the one I paid the least for many years ago--a Rock Island 1911 Officer's model (3 1/2" barrel). Never a FTF or FTE. Great trigger. And really--unless you just like shiny guns, it ain't that bad looking. I put some Remington grips on mine.... It is my constant companion and goes wherever I go. It is within arm's reach right now....

I’ve heard nothing but good things about RI 1911s. You can always send one to Fords and get it engraved and gold inlaid.😜
Very nice holster, too.

My two Hi Powers. Note the relatively short trigger reach. (Girsan, top; SA-35 bottom.)

For clarity— “Hi Power” used to refer just to the original Browning pistol first introduced in 1935, thus the alternate name “P35.” Browning discontinued that pistol a couple of years ago and has only lately re-introduced an “improved” version. Meanwhile, a number of makes created clones of the P35, including Tisas, Girsan, and Springfield Armory. All are now called “Hi Powers” and all have had problems. IMO the sleekest of the newbies is the Springfield SA-35, still my favorite despite its many shortcomings in QC. If you consider an SA-35 be sure it’s a high SN gun— above 12,000 should be safe from the extractor problems that plagued early guns. Test the trigger and then pays yer money and take your chances. If you luck out you will have a fine, reliable, elegant pistol with the best ergonomics of any auto-loader, again IMO. Girsan has the widest range of available Hi Power models and variations. My experience has shown them be well made, well finished, sturdy guns hitting way above their price point. They also seem to be more available than the Springfields, which were virtually vapor-ware for a long, long time. I am not impressed with their CS, but then I don’t have much good to say about Springfield’s either.

Bob, thank you for the report. FN made might be out of my price range but one can always try to make it happen.
