I wasn’t saying “do nothing.” I was trying to levy ultimate guilt. Sure, when you are threatened by a dangerous dog, or any other animal, you have defend yourself and your family. No question about it.

Some dogs are iffier than others, but basically it’s not their fault. It’s the dumbhead owners that think its macho to have a dangerous dog and do nothing to socialize them. Better to hit the owners with the bearspray. Or— rub them with pigfat and take them for a walk in the bear woods... It's not the dogs' fault, agreed, but lots of dangerous things/people are dangerous through no fault of their own. If they're being aggressive/threatening, you have to do something. That is why I made a point of missing them and just scaring them off.

That is why I made a point of missing them and just scaring them off. It is really hard for me to shoot a dog. Even the ones harassing my sheep and goats. I shot at one, once, meaning to miss and parted his ear. Lucky shot. It was a neighbor's dog so I had opportunity to see my handy work. That dog never returned to my place.

This is one thread I follow as we are dog people. Dogs are remarkable animals and fine companions for sure. While we don’t dress our two dogs in clothes, our son and D-I-L gave us this portrait of our guys for Christmas; it is both hilarious and fitting to their personalities.

I know that we are bad dog owners. Our Yorkie was murdering her rabbit, squirrel, and flat-dog last night and we were egging her on. It was fun to watch the fur fly!😜👹🤠

The taller of the two has an uncanny resemblance to an old Scotsman I worked for as a youth, Mr. Hamish Dick. Same hair, same eyebrows, same facial hair.

Buster lost his eyesight to glaucoma at age five, but his sister ,Sandy, the golden girl ,keeps him active...Cousin Minnie Moo spends most of her time with us, and the love they share is a sight to see.

White house dogs. Noticed a brief view of Biden's two lovely German Shepards. The one all white-faced now but playing a little with the younger one. Avg life span for the breeds of that size around 12yrs. Most k-9 "partners" of the breed...working lives usually end around 7 (hip dysplasia) considered common. Many police forces now using Belgian Malinois. smaller, usually more aggressive if needed to be in protection. All info can be found at the AKC website. We had Irish Setters, with few xceptions, in their DNA is knock ya down, lick ya to death!

'Luger,' my six month old un-neutered male cat decided it was tease the dog night. So he got himself under my bed and started fussing the sheets dangling over the side. This got Izzy excited and even old blind Marbles got into the the play to try and catch the the cat. Marbles has tried to catch them before working with a distinct disadvantage but that did not keep him from getting his head under the bed and using his nose to try finding the cat. He worked at it for while. First time I have seen him at play and it was good to see his interest piqued. The cat kept at it enjoying teasing the dogs. It was quite a scene.

Eli has decided I need close supervision. He will be 9mos next Thursday and lately has been sticking with me pretty closely. If I go from the dining table (command central!) back into the office, he's right on my heels. Hops up into the reading chair snd mixes watching the window (squirrels!) and keeping an eye on me at the 'puter. Jack no longer seems to need to have me under surveillance. He'll go into the bedroom after breakfast and snooze on the bed most of the day. It's interesting to watch how they adapt to their environment and what goes on in it. Like any newb, Eli has been figuring out his role in the family. Right now it seems to be all about shadowing me and, maybe, seeing that I don't get into trouble. After all, trouble is HIS job.

Our lovely baby princess puppy Lacy the Yorkie decided to roll in some dead fish this morning. When we added 300 minnows to the pond last month about 20 didn't make it and they were just under the water until the pond dropped a little. She sniffed the sweet smell and rolled in the dead fish and mud. She just got a bath with a lot of cussing.

And sometimes the dogs seem to like the cussing part.

Had the same thing happen with our first female Chihuahua...loved to roll in some other dogs poop or something dead in the yard...and then she would just smile at us like she knew what we were thinking. This was the BOSS! VVVVV

I can understand a wolf pack rolling in elk poop while stalking elk. Chihuahuas rolling in dog poop suggests an even more sinister motive,
