Took our puppy on vacation to Florida. She travels really well. She had the whole backseat to herself, but every now and then, she would walk up to the front seat and ride on the passengers lap. Here she is, chilling in the back seat. Cute pup. I can see she has personality!

My guys, cutting some zzz's. It's taken a long time for Jack to (more or less!) accept the imp-pup. He can still be a real grouch, but sometimes he gives himself away with that wagging tail. Nevertheless, they are establishing a genuine bond. Eli is now 11-months old.

Great picture!!! You can see they are happy with each other. Dogs are God's gift to humans...wish all people would think that way!

A big day for our younger dog, a 6+ year old Schnauzer/Poodle/Yorkie mix; about 14 pounds. Since he was old enough to pay attention he's been intensely fascinated with catching squirrels. Apparently he dislikes them a good bit. He is only about two feet tall, but can jump well above his height on the fence or trees and he is quite fast for his size; still no luck nabbing a squirrel. That is, until today. Two squirrels were chasing each other around a tree trunk. Parson (the dog in question) headed out to the yard and surprised the squirrels. One made the mistake of heading toward another tree about ten yards away. Parson caught him and the battle ensued. I have always wondered what would happen if he caught one. Parson came out the winner. He didn't seem interested in eating the squirrel, but just wanted it dead. I intervened when it was clear the squirrel was seriously wounded and would not escape. Parson's older brother, Deacon, (same mom & dad from an earlier litter) provided nothing except moral support; he is a bit of a chunk. Anyway, a great day for Parson and the squirrels have avoided the yard the rest of the day. Parson is on the left.

For the past six months, an elderly Rhodesian Ridgeback Hound has been staying with me. She is a lovely old dog who has kept this place free from all Lions. What they were bred for over on the Veldt. Unfortunately, as with many who are aged, she is incontinent. Pee puddles here and there in the house. It is part of carrying for old dogs. I keep a towel handy.

You're a quality human being, John. Tile floors throughout the house. Best way to deal with doggy incontinence.

Watching the tear jerking commercials about mistreated mangy dogs… they should take the cameras to the reservations. It is all out of control, but it would be politically incorrect to do so, therefore it will never happen.

Only 3 percent gets to local shelters. Give locally.

Agreed. Most of the national animal welfare organizations are total frauds.

So, Cassandra, my sometimes housemate and itinerant busy body, went off to help someone in ALbuquerque. Leaving her old Rhodesian Ridgeback dog with me to care for. This morning, 16 plops of wet poop and three puddles of urine on the floor. This will be a busy morning. She wil spend the day OUTSIDE.
