Had my annual check-up y’day. (Doc says based on what he sees I should live forever. Told him I wasn’t interested. I asked him about whether he thought I should take the vaccine, which is becoming available here. No, said. I should wait until about May when they know more about reliability and side-effects. But he said that knowing that I live far from any populace and pretty isolated here on the ranch. YMMV...

Right I’m glad us older farts will be pushed back from, Rich, friends of rich, Politicans, Rich Athletics, highly paid media people, I mean who are we we’ve done all we could for this world, we are disposable, not said bitterly but with a clear eye at reality. That said maybe we can see how the guenia pigs do.

95% efficacy. If you are one of those at risk, you should find another Doctor.

You guys have more faith in the system and media reports than I do...I aint gettin' it.
Those who are at high risk, I understand. You may be damned if you do, or damned if you don't. Its a tough spot to be in.
But count me out.

LoL! I played doctor once or twice and I have a feeling this thread isn’t going to end well! No worries from me, Dave. Im not being contentious about the subject at all. My views on this only extend to the end of my nose, and I dont have an overly large nose.
I wouldn't argue at all with anyone over this particular subject, it's far too individual and personal for that. This is one time where I respect everyone's personal view and resulting actions for themselves during this difficult time. I only speak for myself and my situation. No fuss.

Just a FYI, over 18,000 people actually got the Pfizer vaccine in the last phase of the clinical trials ... over two months of follow-up very few adverse reactions to the vaccine. Similar numbers for Moderna. You won't be anyone's "guinea pig".
It's not opinion. It's math.

Considering that some have had adverse reaction...those who are allergy prone...might want to wait and see what side affects are and who has those side affects...at my age I don't want to be anyone's "guinea pig". I'll keep my mask and social distancing in place.

I'm hearing about 40% of people say they won't get the vaccine. Fine with me. Line will be shorter!

I'm not an "anti-vaccer". Normally, I'd run out and get it. But this vaccine is a bit different than your regular vaccine. BUT, according to CDC I shouldn't get the vaccine right away because I've had COVID-19 and recovered. Supposedly I have some immunity - how much, they don't know - but they'd like to find out (guinea pig?). AND, others would benefit more, so I should wait.
Either way, I'll wait. I figure I'm immune for a while, so other people need the vaccine more than I do. AND, that gives me a chance to see if there are any problems with the vaccine.

My brother is tasked with directing operations in regard to the units being set up in operation warp speed for Phoenix and Tucson. He is an aging warrior, a retired Recon Marine that worked as a contractor for some pretty scary stuff after 9/11 and migrated into logistics after he used up 8 lives.
It has been great having him in town and quite an eye opening experience about how regardless of being involved in the process on a federal level, local bureaucrats are sometimes not so accommodating in the permit and inspection process.
Them freezers that keep the vaccine are mighty impressive, -80 degrees. I wanted to flash freeze steaks, but I couldn’t pull it off. He has been here for 4.5 months, but is going home to Connecticut, as he has to attend to matters at home, and matters related to his job.
The vaccine is rolling tonight, Tucson is suppose to be operational tomorrow, or the day after. The doctors take it from here.

It's a little unnerving that not much is known about COVID OR the vaccine, especially with respect to long term effects...However, I think I'd prefer to take my chances with the vaccine than with the virus itself.
Who'd have thought we'd be talking like this, this time last year?!!

Just because you have letters after your name doesn't mean that you're the brightest bulb on the string. lol I do NOT get a flu shot every year. My health and immune system tcob. This virus is more akin to smallpox or polio. It's way too devastating not to eliminate it. We are all on the same "team" here. I have zero hesitation to do my part and protect myself, friends and my family. All good if you don't agree. I certainly respect peoples reservations.

Same here, what you do, how you do is your own DoDo! Yep - if there's anything this pandemic has taught us, it's that we're an "I,me,mine" country, and the results bear that out.

We got our flu shots today. Figured it couldn't hurt at this point to boost the immune system a little.

Exactly my thoughts about the flu shot vs the COVID shot. This isn't about me - it's about everyone. Do you give blood because it makes your body feel better? The other day my brother-in-law took over my girlfriend's Zoom meeting to spend 15 minutes telling us why he wasn't getting the vaccine. In that entire time he never once mentioned his wife or his son. I always thought I was cynical about other Americans, but now I realize that I was overly-optimistic in my previous opinions of them. Now I'd just as soon build a log cabin in Idaho and spend my final 10-20 years there.

We got our flu shots today. Figured it couldn't hurt at this point to boost the immune system a little. The Air Force didn't give us a choice about getting the flu shot, and I've continued to get it every year since. I haven't had the flu since 1974.
