Vodka based Salty dog. I am a gin lover, but I think I like the Vodka based one better. Learn something here all the time, never heard of a gin salty dog. Like the vodka ones.

Had some Crown Royal XO at my BIL's house last night. Commented that there was a sweetness to it. Wife's ears perked up. She tasted it and still made her "I can't believe you like this crap" face at me. It's not that kind of sweetness, dear. She oughta know by now.

“ Sounds refreshing on a warm night.”
In hindsight, With the lime, probably as good or better with gin.

Nighthawk Black, Bourbon Barrel Aged Cabernet Sauvignon, made by Bota Box. Not bad for the cost, honestly.

Burnt coffee from Starbucks. I heard they over-roast their coffee beans intentionally in order to create global uniformity of taste, something the corporate brand values. Maybe it's common knowledge, I don't know. I get the idea of customers going to any location and getting the same dependable experience has value. But never have understood why global uniformity trumps superior flavor.

Maybe it's common knowledge, I don't know. I get the idea of customers going to any location and getting the same dependable experience has value. But never have understood why global uniformity trumps superior flavor. They do purposefully burn the beans for two reasons. One is the reason you mentioned, the other is that the American palate allegedly prefers the taste of burnt coffee. Properly roasted and prepared coffee has a tinge of sweetness to it.
