Pork Schnitzel, spaetzle and red cabbage for dinner. Wife wanted to get her German fix today. No complaints here. When she pounds the cutlets out, one of the dogs always hides under a table. She had no problem with begging for a taste later on. I miss German fare, lived there in the 60's and with the Marks to dollar exchange rate we lived like kings. My mom had a live in helper that fed us great German food. That taste never leaves you. Me too, lived there 1959-1964

Thanks, they turned out good judging by everyone's comments, but the rib donor gave all. Today I did chicken Tortilla soup, it turned out really good, the sour cream and avocado really brought it together. So, all the recipies I looked up on this looked like a red broth, tomatoes. Did you not use them or is it just photo.

Escargots and french onion soup. Baguettes from the frozen food department at Publix. Because I was too lazy to go buy them fresh from their bakery. I need to learn to bake. "Straight Dough" is the easiest. That is what Baguettes are made from. You will need a Baguette Pan. Get the pan, also: Bread FLour (Not All Purpose Flour, G.D. it!!!). "Gold Medal" BREAD Flour is fine as is "King Arthur BREAD Flour". Yeast in a jar. Kosher Salt. Squeeze bottle that makes a stream of water. Water. I am sure you have that. When all is assembled we will move to the next step. This is simple and you really be pleased with the results. Pans arriving thursday!

Sourdough unbleached bead flour, whole wheat and Spelt flour rising in the bowl. Might bake tonight. Might wait for the morning. Half milk and hlaf water for a little more fat in the dough. Keeps better. Straight Dough should be eaten the same day or certainly the next.

You might want to get a box of Parchment Paper for baking and a can of spray oil- canola or olive. I assume you have yeast on hand.

I have an old rotisserie chicken carcass on hand. I was thinking of stripping it into a skillet with butter and garlic. A little pasta, maybe. Swiss Chard. We shall see. Or, I might have a bowl of bean soup. These are the questions which occupy a man!

Baked an enormous loaf of sourdough with added whole wheat and Spelt flour. Milk instead of water. Came out superb. Enjoyed a thick slice this morning with ripe avocado and runny Dafinois cheese.

I used mostly Bob's Red Mill Artisan Bread FLour for the first time as King A. was out of stock, as us ual. Also, King A Whole Wheat flour and organic spelt flour. Sourdough Starter and fresh yeast. Milk instead of water. Anyway, this is the tenderest loaf I have produced ever. It fermented about eight hours. Scale in inches.

We just got back from the grocery where we picked up avocados and crumbled blue cheese to add to the hamburgers I'll be cooking here in a second. My girlfriend did a no-no several months ago and bought $400 worth of frozen beef out of the back of a van that pulled up to our house. I cringed, but it's all been top-notch and we haven't had any strange bowel happenings. As an aside, I like the way you guys seem genuinely interested in what new members are eating, reading, drinking, smoking, etc, and engage in discussions with them. That is not the norm in pipe forums.

This is just a photo, but as crappy as it is, I took it. www.177milkstreet.com/recipes/tortilla-soupFrom that recipe: Take heed, ask me how I know! Do 1/3 the capacity of the blender with the napalm...you will thank me later.

That is because we try to treat each other as family and not just pipe smokers. I remember being offered housing when we were evacuating from a hurricane several years ago.. .that doesn't happen on most pipe forums...we all try to look out for each other as family should.

There is an artisan bread baker in Taos. He has quite a following. He is way better than I am. He has the right kind of ovens- Deck Oven with steam injector.
