I found this picture in my gallery archives on my Iphone. I posted it on Imgur/ Public. My post made most viral in a few hours with Not bad considering that I never took the picture. When you have more money than you know what to do with. Unfortunately sometimes the brain doesn't come along for the ride! This reminds me of a house that I visited near Valle Grande the day after Christmas in 1979. A glass house. Two stories of single glazed glass. With a small wood burning stove. It was a beautiful view if you could just stop shivering long enough.

Sorry to hear about your dad Dewayne. We are living in very strange times for sure. My prayers for you all.

Finally got a report. He was diagnosed with COVID-19 and severe dehydration. They’re keeping him overnight to run more tests. I greatly appreciate all of the well-wishes. Thank you

Sure hope this has a happy ending. At least he’s now in 24/7 medical hands. That’s a good start.

The 12ga pump is in the bedroom. That is good. In the bed room, I just have a sword made in Toledo, Spain in 1940. A kind of saber. Dang. I think I would rather face a gun than a knife. They scare me big-time. The most fearsome close-quarters edged weapon I know of is the Japanese wakizashi, the “middle blade” of a samurai’s trio. 18-22” razor-sharp blade, handle capable of one-handed or two-handed use. The indoors fighting weapon. Scary as hell.

It's wicked sharp, scary looking as heck and razor sharp. Just the right length for indoor use. I really like my Windlass Ulfberht Viking sword, but it's a little too long to swing indoors. And it doesn't take a clip. 😘🤠

Hung some fun signs in the wife's she shed, glued a broken dining room chair, and generally puttered around for the day. It's Sunday, a day of rest... lol.

A crisp 6 degrees (F) this dawn. Dogs let out for morning activity and happy to return to the house. Wood Stove blazing.
Another day on the edge of the llano, next to the mesa.

I have large trash bags filled with aluminum cans. No where to take them. The recycle center in Town of Toad is open two days each week. They do not pay you, you beg them to take the stuff off your hands.

It’s cold, windy and raining today...still. I went to Spokane this morning and picked up someone who needed a ride home, purchased another load of hay and then came home and uploaded another training video. These videos are turning out to be a real boon, helping me stay busy. The rest of the day looks pretty quiet. Oh, I also put a new set of stirrups that I got for Christmas on my saddle.

"Local trash service people" I pay $120 per year to the County for the privilege of driving to their waste transfer station and emptying my trach barrels into their dumpster. It is not optional. All residents must pay.

The Toledo Saber is not sharpened near the hilt so it can be gripped on the blade with a second hand. Then it can be thrust more easily. Good technique for indoor or close fighting.

What happened with your father? He has been admitted to the hospital, probably for a week or so. They have him on a rigorous anti-viral treatment for the COVID. He was severely dehydrated, but did not have pneumonia. Pneumonia was our greatest fear, with the congestive heart failure. He seems to be improving a little.

Just heard from my folks in Kentucky. My dad is 74 years old, diabetic and has very advanced congestive heart failure. They took him to the ER this morning because he couldn’t hardly breath and got so weak he couldn’t hardly move. The hospital met him at the door, gave him a flu test and a COVID test and sent him away until the test results come back. That old man is sitting in his car with mom in the parking lot of the hospital waiting! I’m pretty...not happy ... at the moment. I just saw this, Big Fella, they'll tell you it's to protect your Dad from possible COVID infection, but I think a real Doctor should run toward illness like the first responders run toward a place of need. It's a sorry state this world has come to, and I share your contempt.

I was always impressed to read that Mr. Justice Harry Blackman, formerly of the US Supreme Court, would read the Lord of the Rings Trilogy punctually every five years. Certainly a welcome diversion!!

Sadly, a few neighbors were killed by their cattle in trailers and chutes.

Late to the party here, but glad that your dad got seen and is starting to improve. I'm sorry to hear of his experience before that, though. I suppose, if he didn't have COVID they were trying to shield him from it.

Cowboys know that more injuries and deaths are caused by cows than are caused by bulls. You take bulls seriously. They are watched. Cows are sometimes more or less ignored and there are lots more MEAN cows than bulls. So called "black cattle" predominate here in the Sandhills. Nearly wild they are offshoots of Angus and other breeds, usually some Hereford mix. Some are dead-eye mean and ornery and will do you if they can. In cattle country you are WAY more likely to be done up by a cow than a bull.
