Cowboys know that more injuries and deaths are caused by cows than are caused by bulls. You take bulls seriously. They are watched. Cows are sometimes more or less ignored and there are lots more MEAN cows than bulls. So called "black cattle" predominate here in the Sandhills. Nearly wild they are offshoots of Angus and other breeds, usually some Hereford mix. Some are dead-eye mean and ornery and will do you if they can. In cattle country you are WAY more likely to be done up by a cow than a bull.
Especially if she has a calf.

Especially if she has a calf. So true! How MANY times I’ve been chased around the Rhino trying to get a tag into a new-born. A job best done by two guys— one a toreador, if available.

Glad to hear your dad is on the mend and doesn’t have pneumonia, Dewayne. We will continue to pray for him.

Sun is shining today, no rain or snow for a change. Got some junk cleaned out of one of the sheds, then did a bit of working out. I’ve settled on “functional strength” training these days to try to stay a little more fit. Things like the farmers carry, I do that quite a bit, when the weather permits. Taking advantage of weather while it’s here

To reiterate Jay, another cold and wet day here on the wet coast. Finished chores early and spent a quiet afternoon on the patio with my trusty pipe, heater and hot tea to keep me warm. Don’t know why but I sometimes find listening to the rain very relaxing.🌧

Fed Ex delivered the 13 pounds of King Arthur Bread Flour I ordered. Left it at the front gate.
By the time I got to the front gate to retrieve it, raccoons, I guess, consumed the entire contents. Good on them, they are hungry. Bad for me. No bread for a while!!!!!
2021 starting off just great! LOL!

Shweetie and I are looking at 1 more year here, and then hope to relocate. Don’t know where, but somewhere warmer with lots of riding / horse work possibilities. My best friend lives in central Texas, so maybe.

'Coons are devious citizens at best. I suspect the Mafia may have observed them for ideas. At least you seem to be able to laugh about it.

I have a small one for letters and small packages hanging on the gate. I could add a larger one for parcels.

I have two 30gal garbage cans out back. One has cracked corn and the other has bird seed. The lids fit very tightly and the squirrels have been unable to defeat them. One morning I came out to find both lids on the ground and a huge amount of both cans gone. Tracks revealed a ‘coon—kinda small one, too— had mastered the lids and gorged himself. Had to devise a better lock-down for the cans and no such raids since. I, too, laughed about the little thief.

I hope consuming dry flour does not present other problems with their digestion. Water is in short supply since everything is frozen. I clear two 50 gallon tanks every day.

Rainy, cold and windy again today, but not quite as bad. I’m actually able to sit in my rocker on my front porch at the moment, having a cigar and a cup of coffee.
I got some stuff cleaned up outside before the rain came in too hard, so that was good. When I get done here, and the weather finally runs me inside, I’ll spend the rest of the afternoon on the computer editing and posting videos for the YT channel. My best friend in Texas knows nothing about horses but is a computer/video genius. He does it for a living and makes a very good living at it. Poor guy is doing his best to walk me through this and help make these things watchable, I’d of already give up without his help and encouragement. He sent me a “directional mic” that plugs straight into the phone to make the audio better. I didn’t even know there was such a thing. Just goes to show your never too old to learn and take on a new challenge.
