Took out the trash had a cigar and made it back into the house before the clouds opened up. My biggest adventure since Christmas without help.

Weather did a complete 180 today and the sun actually made an appearance. Nice day here but too bad it’s not the case in DC.

Dog run again. Ninth day in a row. We’ve recently settled into a kind of routine. After half a mle Jack starts trotting right beside the Rhino and casting baleful glances in my direction. I stop, drop the tailgate, and let him jump in the back, where he indicates his happiness with the arrangement. Then we go on.Today we did 1.1 miles by odometer which means that at the very least Eli did 5-10, full-bore all the way— and ready for more. Jack seems to like the new arrangement and I’m betting it will become habit with him. As I’ve mentioned, over and over, he is 10 (10-1/2 actually) and deserves special privileges, and gets them.

Watching highlights from the patriots vs stealers. Don’t you mean Patriots v right wing terrorists supported by fascist nazi and white supremacists who were told to “standby”?

I certainly have opinions about the recent events in D.C. However, we pledged to avoid political discussions here and I am sticking with that.

Cold and overcast, but not raining. Probably will work outside a little, probably will eat too much, probably will drink too much coffee, probably will have a cigar and probably will ignore Washington DC and pretend it doesn’t even exist today. No politics on my plate, thank you. It’ll just give me indigestion.

Foggy here this morning. Yes, avoiding the politics is good for the digestion as well as other things. Remember Mercutio from ROMEO & JULIET: "A plague on both your houses..."

Had to replace the garbage disposer today. I've never had one fail this way before. It was leaking internally somewhere. Water was dripping out the bottom of the thing. Some days just a drip. Other days a steady drip. When I removed it and disconnected the wires, I realized I was lucky it hadn't shorted out. Wet and full of crud. Even the motor windings were wet! Got lucky. The old one came out and the new one went in without any unexpected problems. All old drain piping fit perfectly to the new unit. Only took 1 hour. This looks better now.

John the mailman is almost to your gate. How cool is that? No mail service here but a definite improvement over the dog sled.

First Thursday of every month is rehab for my injured ankle at the VA. Between appointments, took mom out for our weekly lunch and decided on Italian. Good times.....

Weather man is forecasting 2-4 inches of snow for Sunday. I'll believe it when I see it. I really don't like snow at my house. It's a lot better to visit it in somebody else's yard and street.

A couple years ago at this time I had more snow on the ground here in SoAZ than I had at home in laxWI but at least it was gone in a day and back in the 70’s in two!

I'll gladly send you all of mine. Mercifully none on the forecast for the immediate future.
37 days without a trip to town. And supplies are still holding up. But running low on wine to mix up for my vino da tavolo so may need a trek next week. Life is simpler around here since I signed up with Chewy for regular shipments of the one thing that used to force me into town— dog food.

I hope to come off as curious without sounding flippant but I'd love to hear what ya'll think about Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Cat Stevens and those 70s guys with acoustic guitars? I feel like my entire life people have been telling me that they're great but I really don't get the appeal. I can't say I'm a big fan of Billy Joel's 70s catalog or Peter Frampton but I sort of get the appeal but can't figure out these three... I mean, Jim Croce and Merle Haggard are sort of ok but what's the appeal of Jackson Browne and why were women all over the USA fawning over James Taylor!?!?

Not much happening here in central Illinois. For several days now, it's been slightly above freezing in the day. At or a little below freezing at night. Snow is slowly melting. Looking dreary outside.
Tinkered with a couple of wines I'm making this morning. A sweet strawberry for the wife that's about ready to bottle. And a blend of several reds from the Cape region of Africa. Hoping it will be a great wine, but too soon to tell. Looking good so far.
Taking care of odd jobs around the house.
