Nothing much happening. Day cleared up and I went to Jefferson and picked up the new rifle. What did you get? A NOS Ruger 10/22 Stainless International Mannlicher. 2013 that had been on the shelf too long.

Went to MeWe today.
The digital overlords have been too much as of late, I really don’t get political much on FB, but it has really turned into Pravda on steroids. There is so much collusion in big tech to stomp anyone else in the dirt it is unsettling. The spying and mining data to make themselves more powerful is just over the top. You would think that with the billions, one would be content, but controlling others I guess is just to tempting. Mark Zuckerberg can go kiss a fairly mans arse as far as I am concerned.

Nice. I love a Mannlicher stock.
Like everybody else, I had a 10/22 as a youngster. Have a little stainless takedown model, now.

Wow, the Nylon 66 is a classic. Never had one, myself, but had a friend who did. Kept it in mint condition.
I was telling Ted, I think, in chat the other night that I'd been threatening to pick up something in 6.5x55 Swede for years. (If that was you instead of Ted, I apologize profusely.) Such a great cartridge.

Went to MeWe today. The digital overlords have been too much as of late, I regally don’t get political much on FB, but it has really turned into Pravda on steroids. There is so much collusion in big tech to stomp anyone else in the dirt it is unsettling. The spying and mining data to make themselves more powerful in a just over the top. You would think that with the billions, one would be content, but controlling others I guess is just to tempting. Mark Zuckerberg can go kiss a fairly mans arse as far as I am concerned. I dropped off of FB years ago, after about the 4th time they relaxed their privacy policies. I know I'm missing out on things, like the pipe club over there, but, dang it, somebody's gotta draw a line somewhere, and I think it's going to be up to users voting with their feet.

Back home with a new Cell phone. A Nokia Flip Phone connected to a 4G Network. Yahoo, Facebook, email, The Briar Patch, I am set. It was the last and only phone for sale in Taos at Choice Cellular. They were holding it for me because I am a Navajo Proud White Eye. $99.00

I only use Facebook to keep up with my extended family that uses FB. I have no use for any other site that doesn't have them. Sad, I know.

I doubt I will be on FB using a cell phone. I mentioned it only to demonstrate I am not entirely behind the times.

About the same for me.
It helps keep in contact with family, former co-workers and friends, but as of late they are over the top with spying, marketing people’s personal information, etc.
I get it that being a “free site” will come with conditions, but it is like being offered a drink, but getting a Mickey..
It has given the pipe club more visibility than our own website does, but then again I am constantly offered monetary boosts for free. When I take them up on it, I get an email telling me how much they hate anything related to tobacco and they will not honor what they offered.
It is just a matter of time before they give the boot to us anyway.

trailbossI agree about the "digital overlords". After the events of the last couple days, I've dropped Google Chrome. Installed Firefox.

Cold night.

trailboss I agree about the "digital overlords". After the events of the last couple days, I've dropped Google Chrome. Installed Firefox. It's that old saying: if you're not paying for the product, you're the product. I cut the Google cord early this last year. I'm using Opera as my browser, DuckDuckGo as my search engine, and ProtonMail for my email. My gmail account is still there, forwarding stuff to my new account. I probably won't ever be able to completely get rid of it. I've had it too long. But I'm not actively using it.

I have been using duck duck go for a few years also. My brother uses proton email, and it certainly looks like a good way to go.

I ordered some stuff from Country Squire a week ago. The latest update from USPS was 5 days ago:
I mean, 5 days is a minute ago. Maybe not ridiculous, under the circumstances, but it would be nice to have seen some kind of an update in that time. Here's the kicker: I LIVE IN MEMPHIS.
Having departed the distribution center here in town, how many days can it take to arrive at my post office . . . here in town? What are they doing, driving around town with it?
I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this one. This one may have disappeared into the ether.

Ended up getting a root canal and a crown. I'm surprised you were able to get that done. Dental work (even a filling) isn't happening over here due to aerosol problems and COVID. I have had a bit of pain on a tooth that already has had a root canal done on it. Thinking it would be so much worse if it had the nerve in it, but since I can feel something, it might also need checked.

We have the misfortune to find ourselves at an “historical node.” Much more pleasant to read about them than to live through them. I used to ponder how much the world had changed for my father, who learned to “drive” by taking his grandmother into town in the family buggy. First with a single horse, then with two. Now, in my dotage, I ponder my own journey since 1939— pre-war issue no less! It has been both interesting and strange. Looks like it will be more of the same for the foreseeable future, however much of that we have.

Woke up to rain this morning. Yesterday, I booked another horse to train, with the stipulation that if she wants it worked now, she pays the in-door arena fees as well. She agreed. So I may be going to an arena and riding a spoiled mare that is in sore need of an attitude adjustment. It’s a 30-day gig.

My Picanha of beef from Argentina has been held up owing to UPS not verifying my address. UPS, in their unbelievable stupidity, relies on the Post Office Mail Data Base for address verification. Those addresses which do not receive mail delivery are not in the data base and therefore do not exist in the UPS Brain Cluster.
I have fought with UPS for decades about this to no avail. So, unless I can convince Señor Che, the Argentine Beef Master, that I exist in my own real time space, no beef for me!!!

Then where to?

On a more positive note: our fourth grand baby arrived yesterday at 2:27 PM. Lucille James entered the world with loud acclaim according to our son. All is well thus far and hopefully we will hold her in a day or two. Life is good.
