Sadly today I lost a Nephew, his mom (my sister) passed away a few years ago from Lou Gehrig's disease, this is a pic of the family when they were younger. Stevie's Dad (Steve) was a good friend of Chris Ledoux, and this was a picture at their home after a concert. Sadly at 41 and after a 20 year marriage, he succumbed to the same ailment that took Chris Ledoux's life. An all around great kid, son, husband, and father. His oldest son is at the Air Force Academy, and the other two are on the same track....that is saying something. not saying goodbye, i will see you later.

Oh Charlie, I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. From what you described, your nephew seemed to have been an amazing fellow. I’ll say a prayer for him and his family tonight. All the best to you, your sister and rest of your extended family.

Keep an eye on those county devils. Years ago, I demanded a re-appraisal of a two story ancient adobe on 1/8 of an acre. The taxes were outrageous. The County appraiser showed up. He pointed to a neighbor's home and asked me if that was the house included in the property description. When I told him there ain't no house, he was astonished. For years I paid the property taxes of that neighbor. Refund? Forget about that. Money down the drain. I actually met my county tax collector a few years ago at a Kentucky Derby party. When we were introduced and all I could say is I think I have cussed you out before! We had a house on Lake Livingstone 40 years ago and the taxes were ridiculous. Our very obnoxious neighbor,(he talked loudy and showed off his colestomy bag) volunteered to go to the tax office with me. The THREAT of having him in the office again was enough to cut my taxes in half to match his.

Well, arrived at "The Villages", Florida, today. Rented a house here for a couple weeks. An interesting community.
Now to find out if there are any pipe/tobacco shops I need to visit.

Thank you all.
No heavy depression here, the earthly loss is indeed sad, and my heart breaks for his bride and children. There is the heavenly gain aspect though.

Cold and windy on this Good Friday morning. Sunshine and warmer temperatures expected later in the day. Currently enjoying my first cupper before getting ready and suit up for the office. Have a great Easter weekend everyone!

A chilly start to Good Friday.
The usual pilgrims on the march to the Sanctuary in the village of Chimayo, NM, are standing down once again owing to COVID-19. This is an important expression of solidarity with Jesus.
For me. a day of reflection and peace.

It’s a beautiful warm sunny day here today. I ran some errands earlier this morning and picked up some hay, and now I have to take Shweetie in to the dentist at 1:00 for a root canal. I feel bad for her.

Some make the pilgrimage. Some used make the journey on their knees. Most of the pilgrims are just folks here. Many women and children make the journey. The Penitentes are all men.

Chimayo has the best Red Chile. It is best to buy it from road side stands where one can stick the nose in the bag to evaluate.

83° here this afternoon. Sun and little breeze. I had a new HWH installed today. Happy about that save for the cost of the operation. I thought $375 was a bit rich but what do I know about installing those things anyway? Took him a little over 2 hours and there were parts involved, too. Took the dogs down to the creek again for their playtime. It’s now the place they want to go most of all. Jack took a walk in it and Eli followed along on the bank. He’s not yet comfy with just jumping in like Jack is. I predict he will lose all puppy-inhibitions this summer when it gets really hot. I would stop and sit on the tailgate and smoke a bit, watching them have the kind fun active hunting dogs like. I think I get about as much from WATCHING as they do DOING. Tuckered them out pretty good.

Got my second shot yesterday..Hardly noticed anything today..A good surprise. We had ours last Saturday and I didn't feel much. Listless on Sunday and a sore arm on Monday. However, today I have had a fever all day. Just a fever with chills. Nothing else.

Quiet day. My employer closes down for Good Friday, so that's appreciated. Was lazy, although there was this little expedition to Costco (the bride let me buy her a hotdog for lunch), then back home a bit of a snooze before the Good Friday service this evening. Teaching a ham radio class starting in the morning, so doing some last minute cramming.

Been a bad week, Second shot Monday, Tuesday sore arm, fever coming and going, Electrican on Tuesday couldn’t move my Generator off my deck because of rain. Wednesday they buried my Moms sister, 96, too sick to go to Furneral. Thursday we had a super cold front went from 79 degs to in the forties, North wind 20 to 30 mph gusts. Finally Friday felt a little better, wife too. Just a week of crap. Sorry about the rant.
