Checked the mail when got home, as usual, and found a small package that I wasn't expecting. I opened it up and found this gorgeous hand forged tamper inside. I was blown away. It took me a few minutes to find the note, and I kept wondering, "who put this much thought into sending me something?" Professor S. - thank you, I will treasure this. (And maybe someday be skilled enough to make one like it).  |

My Peterson House Pipe arrived today. I thought the Pub pipe was big— and it is— but the House pipe tops it. Chamber is a tad under 1” diameter and 2-1/4” deep. SHown here with a Pete Standard 304 for comparison.  The true Pete house pipes are incredibly huge. I have a couple of bent billiards and two billiards - they are all too large for me, but still beautiful. I bought each because they were rare examples - Peterson was known to create one-offs that were freakish at times. I have a blasted 69 shape that dwarfs a Dunhill 120. I think the pub pipes are a good compromise - someday I'll pick one up. |

I really like the big boys. They are totally spoiling me for the littlers. They just seem to smoke so much better. I'll no doubt be buying more, unless someone has some they don't like and want to get rid of them.

I say try, but there is enough of each them to last a few years for me. terrapinflyer - thank you, I truly appreciate it. The bombings will continue until I start laughing again apparently. As Darin pointed out, there was another box waiting for me today, this one loaded with some awesome new pipe tobaccos for me to try, and a healthy portion of one Darin's homemade snuffs! Thank you sir, it looks like I am going to be having a (needed) tobacco-heavy relaxing weekend. |

My Peterson Pub Pipe arrived today. This is a BIG pipe. The chamber is just under 1” in diameter and the depth is 2-1/4”. It also has a funny liuttle metal nipple screwed into the tenon. I suppose it is some kind of distillator thingie. First bowl was quite good. Gonna let it rest now for a day.  How do you like your Pub pipe? Does it smoke well? |

Got a bunch of tobacco in the mail today. Highlights include Old Gowrie, Hal O' the Wynd, McConnell's Scottish Flake, Three Friars, Windjammer, BB#2 and a few others. Cellaring deep and still a little too wide.
