A mobility scooter for the wife. She was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cirrhosis 5 years ago from a non alcohol/drug issue. She is in great need of a transplant. Pipe smoking and occasional cigars are a few of the things I enjoy that relax me from day to day stress my own and hers. Wish it was a nice pipe or a box of Padrons maybe even an oz or two of fine virginia but alas it's a 5.0 mile per hour 15 mile range go go machine for my love. I lost a nephew six months back from the same thing, but in his situation there was a lot of other issues that came forth quickly. He rarely drank a single beer, and never any drugs. I will pray for your wife that when God calls someone else home, she can benefit from it. We thank you sir. My wife said that your comment "was so sweet, thank you so much". I often think on my life without my wife.

Got my RD pipe today! Crocodile Bob says… “You call that a pipe? THIS is a pipe! The bore is .762 x 2.06” and it weighs 2.9 ounces (82 grams) so it definitely qualifies a BIG pipe. The break-in has begun! Did it get Eli's approval?

Me too, to find someone to stick by my side for 40 years is nothing short of miraculous....Hell, I would have left me! The longer I am married, the more I realize how fortunate I have been in that regard...truly blessed.

I do not want to think about life without my wife 15 years married almost 22 together and we have been through some shite together and I have put her through some too!

Think many of us are in your boat, Ted (nightking). If you think you are going to find perfect...think again, but if you get lucky you may find someone who will put up with your issues as you will put up with theirs.

If we're honest with ourselves, I think every one of us married up. My wife is so far out of my league that if her league exploded I wouldn't even see the blast for over a year.

I married late inl life and during the first ten years of my marriage, I was away for five on deployments. My Mrs. was still there when I got back. Knew I married the right gal! Truly blessed and lucky!

I gave in and got what needs to be my last pipe purchase for the rest of the year. It wasn't expensive; I just need to learn to be content with what I have. I've heard these Mitchell Thomas pipes are Aldo Velani seconds. I'm a sucker for the partially rusticated look. In any event, I'll be pleased if it smokes as well as the Icarus.

The break-in has begun! Did it get Eli's approval? He gave it the once over when it came out of the box. Mostly a "Meh!" from him, but what does he know?
Interim report: a superb smoke. The only pipe I have that has smoked sweet and full and totally satisfying from the first bowl. The draw is faultless. It is super-easy to clean. Feels great in the hand. I love the army mount. I'm a tough grader, but have to give Ron an A+ on this one.

I have a bit of envy for all the happily-marrieds— and of course congratulate them. I was married for 43 years, but to different spouses. I guess I am kind of a "loner"— just look at where I live! But I feel like, just as the Shakers sing, I have come down right where I ought to be. I celebrate marriage and its joys. I guess I am just not supposed to participate. No regrets.

Ron does an amazing job of transferring style into a smoking machine...it's the heart he puts into every pipe...I'll bet you will own another pipe from him before you are ready to stop buying pipes (and dreams).

Hey..it is what works for you! I love my wife dearly, but if she is called home before me and I will miss her incredibly, I have a lot going on in life with my kids and grandkids, friends in and out of the pipe community. I sure as hell won't be chasing any women...unless she looked like Ann Margaret in her prime, Sings like Stevie Nicks, and has Jeff Bezos ex-wife's money. That field is narrow.

"Extremely narrow when you're added to the equation!"
I am an aged Brad Pitt type of guy that Dos Equis corralled into the most interesting guy going forward scenario Ron. You need to take that into the equation, Jonathan Goldsmith has been aged out.

I'm with you, except for those 43 years. Lifelong bachelor. It's just how things worked out. I met a couple of girls who could've been "the one," but the timing was off or things just otherwise didn't work out. It's impossible to say at this point whether that's just how I've always been built, or the product of the way things went.

I guess nothing, since United Sub-Par Shipping seems to have sent my package from Memphis, on one side of me, to Tulsa, two hours on the other side of me, and it apparently takes 2 days to get it back over here. This is what I get for messing with urbino

I got a new ,shiny Victorinox Spartan in the mail today, a gift from my keeper of a wife. She knows I{ like most pipers } love knives, and that goes double for the slender Swiss Army models like the Spartan or the Cadet.

I've gone through two of the stainless Cadets over the years, don't go wrong with those simpler classics.

This is the first order I've put in in a bit. Had several things accumulate on my "Need To Try" list. Plus getting some more Pegasus while the getting was good.

The Orion's Arrow and another, GLP Navigator, are new to me. I was going to try Salty Dogs, but missed out by a day. The rest of my purchase is going straight into the cellar.
