Wow!!! That is one beautiful pipe. I am drawn to straight pipes in classic shapes. And that one is absolutely gorgeous. I might be boring, but I have come to appreciate those who can color inside the lines. Thanks, William! I agree. When somebody can execute a classic shape extremely well, they've done something. Just because you can make a billiard or a prince or an apple doesn't mean you can make any of them well, much less beautifully. As noted elsewhere, based on the first few smokes, this one is a real candidate to become my first favorite pipe (of my 2nd piping life). One thing I've noticed about it as I've handled it more is the bowl tapers in an arc toward the top enough to almost be a bit of a brandy instead of a billiard. It's not a brandy, but it's curvier than a typical billiard. I call that a Danish Billiard. That sort of Billiard shaping is very common among Danish pipe makers.

You sent me looking to see if I had another Danish-made billiard, and just didn't notice it before. I do not. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for them, now.

The Danes have a talent for taking classic shapes and tweaking them in interesting ways. One trick is lowering the "waist" on Apples and Billiards. Also, Billiard walls normally taper in slightly and they slightly emphasize that taper. Doing those two things contribute to the Billiard shape that you’ve noticed.

Yeah, I've noticed the difference in billiard tapers. My Merchant Service and Sav Bing have almost no taper, for example. Others have a fair bit. This guy has taper that curves.

Some tins of C&D Carolina Red Flake with Perique will be winging my way, soon. Or rolling, at least.

Likewise. We'll find out soon if the hype was warranted.

A couple of Zippo pipe lighters arrived today. I was just going to get one, so I could put the insert in my Brass Zippo. But with Amazon's free shipping, it only cost me $3 more to get 2 instead of 1 and paying shipping. I'll take it.

It's just possible I have this Dunnie Chestnut 3101 on the way: I've had my eye out for quite a while for a simple, straight apple from them in a group 3 size, and a little mad money squirreled away in case I found one I liked. This one popped up on the radar earlier today. Decent grain, and I like the chestnut color. It's a good match to the cumberland stem.

Nothing major: some czech tools, 1 tin each of Chelsea Morning, Blackpoint, and Westminster (to try).

Got 2 Missouri Meerschaum Bent Apple Diplomats in the mail today. Started to wonder if I was ever going to get them. Slow mail this time - actually I think it was the supplier.
