2oz West's Best Plateau of Leng 2oz C&D Visions of Cephelais 2oz C&D Haunted Bookshop Firedog zippered tobacco pouch When I was at my tobacconist's ordering the C&D, I picked up another 2oz of his proprietary Golden Harvest Blend. Then I made a quick trip to Hobby Lobby for some jars to hold my upcoming acquisitions. Once I find a couple that I really like, I'll pick up some larger apothecary jars and invest in a few pounds. The carry pouch will likely stay in the pocket of my smoking jacket, which is just a comfortable, unlined jacket a size or 2 too big I found at Goodwill that holds all my smoking stuff. Heh. You didn't lose much time getting those HPL blends. I'll be interested to hear what they're like. I use a pouch and a waxed canvas jacket in much the same way. Since I have to adjourn to the patio to smoke, it's handy to keep my lighter, tamper, and some extra tobacco in a pouch, which stays in one of the jacket's pockets, along with some cold-weather gear. I'm excited to try them out. I'll let you know what they're like. HPL neither drank nor smoked, but Frank Belknap Long smoked a pipe, and I think Clark Ashton Smith did, too. Frankly, I'm surprised that there aren't blends out there somewhere with their names on them.

You understand that anything less than a Mason jar won't keep the tobacco fresh for more than a month, right? Thanks for the heads-up! These have plastic friction seals. I've been using rectangular block-shaped jars with the same seals for the past several years with my cigars, and they've performed far better than the 3 or 4 humidors I've tried. I'm optimistic these will as well. If these don't do the trick and I have to switch to Mason jars, then so be it. Actually, chances are good at that point I'll switch to jars with rubber seals and lids that clamp tight, like what I use for the coffee I keep next to the coffeepot in my classroom. I'll keep you updated. I'm using some of the clamp jars with seals, as well, mostly because they were what I had on hand. But they seem like they should work. They work on the same principle as Mason jars, after all: a compressed rubber seal. The only difference I can think of is that the screwdown top ensures the pressure is even around the entire seal. Dive watches use screwdown backs for the same reason. But we don't need a seal that still works under 1000 meters of water. We're just talking about a jar on a shelf. I think the main advantage the Mason jars have is they are dead cheap. You can buy them in quantity, and for less than a buck, each. That's a good thing. But it doesn't make them seal any better.

After a lot of trial and error, I've settled on Mason jars (or similar) being the only reliable form of long term storage.

When I bought my old place and moved it 10 miles to my farm, There was a little enclosed porch with a Cajun pantry with over 20 mason jars filled with figs, canned I found out in the 30s, this was 2004, all good, no mold, figs had turned into sugar but was still good. Given the improvements in the rubber technology I would say Mason Jars while cheap , are the best method in storing tobbaco! I Garronte.

Got a Longchamp leather covered pipe on the way. French company found themselves with lower quality wood during WW II and came up with the leather to cover the wood. They proved popular and they stuck with it after the war.

A rare and beautiful looking pipe indeed. 👍😁

A Savinelli Bing's Favorite. The sandblast with the standard black stem. Apparently I got the last one Tobacco Pipes had.

Got some estate pipes in the mail today: Jobey Florentine. Has a threaded tenon, which I hadn't seen before in my limited experience. That's unique to Jobey, as far as I know. Congrats on the new pipe! Jobey did some weird things with tenons. My second pipe which I bought in 1987 was a Jobey Bulldog that had the tenon on the shank and the mortise in the stem.

My Pipe Of The year from the Pipe Club Of London arrived yesterday, it only took 5 days! I thought that the pipe tamper made by maestro De Paja was included, and was initially disappointed, but the price for a tamper was too steep for my liking. I can afford it, just cannot justify. This bulldog I believe, will be a great smoker.

I will try it out.
I am not against or for stingers, it depends upon the pipe. Generally though, I prefer the open draw. It is nice to see that this pipe offers either, or.

Last May, I had a pipe take two and half weeks to arrive from Denmark with a good part of that waiting for Customs clearance. Now, like your experience from England, a pipe was shipped with UPS Express on Thursday from Germany and will arrive here tomorrow.
