Hoping the 1965 Aston Martin DB5, fitted with exclusive amenities including machine guns is coming tomorrow. Might have to wait for Xmas.

This one arrived about a month and a half ago and I finally got around to uploading pics to Imgur… James Upshall grade P Billiard (group 4 freehand): Very nice, John, as usual.

Busy day in the mail room today. First, a couple estates showed up on the porch, a Comoy Rover bent billiard and GBD Oxford straight billiard. Neither are from higher-end lines, but they're solid English-made pipes. Both need just a little TLC, and they'll find a place in the collection. I'll provide photos when I get them cleaned up. Then, packages of tobacco arrived. One was an order from the Country Squire with stocking stuffer bags of Figgy Pudding and a couple other blends I wanted to try. Finally, got a package from Gypo , containing a healthy bit of Brown Bogie and a lat blend from King's Tobaccos. Thanks again, Ted!

Look forward to seeing them when you have them ready. I'll get those posted sometime today, along with a couple others that I've worked on.

Another busy day in the mail room. Two packages from SP. One was the monthly cellar purchase. Got some Big n' Burley to try out, along with several blends to put away. The other was a cigar humidor that is for my son's Christmas present. Also got an eBay purchase delivered, two Dr. Grabow CDLs that are also Christmas gifts.

Some Solani Silver Flake, and this here Tom Eltang: Oh my!!! How about some straight grain on a thick-walled bowl...... If I could find a "drooling" emoji, I would paste it in right here.

Thanks, guys. I'm pretty chuffed.
And despite those thick walls, William, it's well under 2 oz.

Also, some Sam Gawith blends arrived. Maybe they've been doing this for a while, I don't know, but it's new to me: the usual rectangular tins are now shrink-wrapped. Should help maintain the seal, I would think.

Received my first pipe from Ron at RD Pipes. A partially blasted rhodesian with spalted pecan bowl cap recently listed. This pipe is really lovely in hand, and I love the light and dark contrast. I'll get some pics of my own shortly, but here are two of his: Congratulations! Wait until you find out how good it smokes.

Hoorah! My package from Pipestud finally arrived today! A day late but worth the wait. My wife is not gullible enough though. Back when I told her that I was bidding on a wedding year Dunhill, her immediate reply was "Is that even a thing?". (She does know that birth year Dunhills are a thing.) I replied "Well, I do also have a high school graduation year Dunhill." 😂 I never set up intending to collect Dunhills. I guess they just sort of grow on you and call to you over time as this is Dunhill #8 for me. 1987 Dunhill Root Briar group 3 Canadian:

Seems to be in excellent shape, too.

Seems to be in excellent shape, too. Yes, in great shape. Pipestud doesn’t do any clean up and sells them like he receives them. The previous custodian(s) of this pipe took good care of it and did a decent clean up to get it ready to go to its new home. This pic is right after it came out of the box. I need to take some better pics. My only complaint is that it wasn’t as clean inside the shank as I like. Shank brush and about 15 bristles cleaners and Everclear did the job. The chamber is in great shape and had been reamed. Just a few minutes with sandpaper and I had it to where I like it to start from. The outside was in good shape and had probably seen a buffer before sale. The stummel outside just needed usual of a bit of Murphy's Oil Soap to clean it and then some Decatur No Buffer Wax. I still need to do a little more work on the stem. There’s oxidation near the button that really shows after I’ve been clenching it. The first smoke was great. I’m really starting to question the general wisdom you hear from Dunhill collectors that Dunhills suck after 1968 or after 1974 or through the 80s and 90s depending on which "expert" you’re listening to. I now have a 1982 and a 1987 and both are just as good as my 50s, 60s, and modern (2015+) Dunhills.

But given how light it still is, it looks like it was hardly smoked.
