Yes, in great shape. Pipestud doesn’t do any clean up and sells them like he receives them. The previous custodian(s) of this pipe took good care of it and did a decent clean up to get it ready to go to its new home. This pic is right after it came out of the box. I need to take some better pics. My only complaint is that it wasn’t as clean inside the shank as I like. Shank brush and about 15 bristles cleaners and Everclear did the job. The chamber is in great shape and had been reamed. Just a few minutes with sandpaper and I had it to where I like it to start from. The outside was in good shape and had probably seen a buffer before sale. The stummel outside just needed usual of a bit of Murphy's Oil Soap to clean it and then some Decatur No Buffer Wax. I still need to do a little more work on the stem. There’s oxidation near the button that really shows after I’ve been clenching it. The first smoke was great. I’m really starting to question the general wisdom you hear from Dunhill collectors that Dunhills suck after 1968 or after 1974 or through the 80s and 90s depending on which "expert" you’re listening to. I now have a 1982 and a 1987 and both are just as good as my 50s, 60s, and modern (2015+) Dunhills. I'm struck by how light the color still is. Of course, that can be hard to tell in a photo. But given how light it still is, it looks like it was hardly smoked. The previous custodian(s) definitely smoked it quite a bit based the bit of chamber cake that was still there. They took really good care of it based on it looking to be well smoked on the inside (but in fine shape inside). It is about the same color as my other Root Briars.

Nice. I like the group 3 size. The mid- to upper-end sizes of the group, at least. When they start getting down close to a 2 . . . meh.
Just arrived: the aforementioned Tom Eltang.

Received the Solani Silver Flake. I'm not sure what to think. The tins are bloody enormous for 100g of tobacco. And they are in no way sealed. The tobacco is in a clear plastic bag that isn't really even closed. It's just folded over and held down with a single strip of decorative tape that runs perpendicular to the opening of the bag. Weird.
I bought a tin of Silver Flake a year or so ago. I don't remember it being packaged remotely like this.

Into the jar and labeled and yes the packaging sucks!

Just received a new crystal and tools for an apple watch.
Bought the watch last Christmas for Blondie. She banged it into the corner of a counter at work and cracked the lens.
Geek squad wanted $229 to replace it.
Picked it up on Amazon for $20 or so. Will do it myself.
(wish me luck)

Silver I was wondering if that was a new pipe from the What Are You Smoking thread. Happy belated birthday and I hope you're enjoying that new pipe.

urbino That is some excellent grain on the new Tom Eltang you snagged! johnlawitzke Nice Dunhill addition! I'm personally of the opinion that most all chunks of briar drilled the same will smoke the same. It's all about the pipe's engineering and airway.

Just finished jarring up a few pounds of tobacco for the cellar. Took advantage of the 20% off sale on C&D blends at Smokingpipes. A few tins of SG tobacco on the way.

I'm not familiar yet with that cherrywood/hawkbill style MM cob? And I've been wanting that Emerald bent since it was released. I love cobs.

I hadn't seen the poker (Merrill) before, just jumped on the MM site and decided to try it. I was there for the Emerald, I have been wanting one for quite a while as well. Poker smokes pretty nicely

1000 rounds of Winchester M855 green tip in 556
1000 rounds .45 ACP
1000 rounds 9MM
The supply and prices have come down to more reasonable levels.

EDIT: after running a couple pipe cleaners all the way through it has gotten a little better. Still tight but definitely smoke-able.
