I rewatched the American version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. It's a shame Fincher flaked out and they didn't get to make the other 2 films. We watched the Swedish version and it was great. We didn't feel like we were missing anything.

Monster Hunter (2021). It makes no sense, avoid. I feel like even Mila Jovovich knows she's letting us down and further more, what's the point of having Tony Jaa in your movie if all you're going to do is cover him in CGI?

Watched Dunkirk. I didn't have the problems with it that Plainsman did, but I'm not a stickler for that kind of thing. I went into knowing only that at Dunkirk the British (and Canadians?) were forced into a mass evacuation by the Germans, and civilians were involved. I felt like I came out of it with a better feel for what that experience must have been like.
I did find it a little odd that the one civilian boat they focused on never actually made it to Dunkirk. I get that that's part of the story, too. Just seems like an odd choice.

This exchange reminds me that the movie version of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is a guilty pleasure. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, man. And Rufus Sewell! How wrong can you go?

I read the book and it's much betterthan the movie. Now, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was as good as the book when you consider that the book is just the entire original with extra text.

We enjoyed The Dig on Netflix. Pre WW2 drama set in England about an amateur archaeologist and the discovery of an Anglo-Saxon longboat, based on a true story. Good performance by Ralph Fiennes and others. Maybe a bit slow in spots but overall I'd give it at least 4 thumbs up out of 5.

Watched the Accidental Tourist. Quirky movie. Geena Davis was in that one, as I recall and was, indeed, quirky and lovable.

Chaos Walking (2021) - They held so much back that it almost seems incredible that in a world where everyone shares every single one of their thoughts, the characters never bother talking to each other in order to resolve even the mos basic plot points.
Dreamland (2021) - Pure schmaltz but oh everything is oh so pretty.

Pi. I watched it many years ago, when it came out, and remembered almost nothing about it. Now I think I understand why.

Watched a movie called "Black Book" (2006). World War II German occupied Netherlands.
A young woman goes undercover under the covers to spy on the regional Gestapo headquarters for the Dutch resistance. A couple of twists - and a traitor in the resistance - but who?. Good entertainment. 7/10

Finished watching “Last Knight” with Clive Owen and Morgan Freeman on Amazon. It’s a Western version of 47 Ronin. Similar story line but with a Hollywood twist.
