Tom Brady and the bucs sure ripped the fins off the Dolphins.
In other news… the Cardinals have a perfect record so far, 5-0.
Oops… wrong thread. 😝

Those must be minor leaguers.

That short wall in right/centerfield came into play again. That was a weird play, huh? Good break for Boston.

Eovaldi. They just finished with a win 5.5 hours and thirteen innings later. Hell of a game. Kiké is on fire and everyone else is hitting well. The bullpen struggled as they often do, but so did Rays'. They were supposed to start Pivetta tomorrow, but he just threw four innings tonight. Alex Cora isn't afraid to make bold decisions postseason and it usually works out. I had to step out for some air and then I'll catch the rest of Stros v White Sox. It's shaping up to be an exciting October! Looks like it. Good for Keek. He'll win over those Bostonians. Eovaldi is another Dodger product, btw. I had forgotten that he was out there. He's been one to count on since the ace Chris Sale has puked on the rubber his last outings.

Needed to go through a police checkpoint to get in or out of my street on Sundays. I thought I'd stop hearing about Tom Brady when I left New England, but no.

Oh, yeah! It's a funny, old, park. I wouldn't have it any other way! All the old parks had their quirks, and associated field rules. Only two of them left. The newer parks have tried to capture some of that quirkiness and atmosphere in their designs. The Astro-turfed stadiums of the 70's and 80's were horrible.

Yankee Stadium even has a nod to the old short porch. Looks like White Sox might take this game. The very quirky Craig Kimbrel is on the mound.

The old parks having quirks was/is fine. It was out of necessity. I'm not a fan of modern parks making up quirks to give them "character" or whatever. Like that dumb hill that used to be in the Astros' new park. Or when the Giants put the bullpens on the field in their brand new park. All that stuff does is get people hurt.
A person could win a lot of bar bets on what the 3 oldest baseball parks are. Most people would get Fenway and Wrigley. Not a lot of people would get #3.

Dodger Stadium?

And Dodger Stadium wasn't even finished when the former Trolley Dodgers moved out west, I think? Before my time.

Yup. That field had some quirks. There was a Green Monster-like fence in LF because it was so shallow.

Woo frigging hoo! Thay made it a nail-biter, but they made it.
Yay!!!
Edit: that was a little selfish, but the Dodgers are still in it. Its uphill, but anything is doable. Go Dodgers!

Tonight's Dodgers game was a perfect example of what I said before about baseball having a lot of random in it. Overall, they outplayed the Giants. Not by a lot. Both teams were terrific. But they did hit more balls hard than the Giants. They just got nothing to show for any of them. That's baseball.

Yeah, it happens--making contact and getting on, but unable to convert 'em to the runs column. Add in some Ks on bad calls and you get angry, bad words at my house.

Should be a great series between the Astros and the Red Sox. Astros 5th straight LCS.

Yup, Dodgers stayed alive. Good luck.
That Houston v Chicago game was fairly pathetic. By the 7th, it looked like Chicago just wanted to pack it in.
So it's a couple days off for Red Sox and then they tackle Houston. Sox have a poor record against Astros this season, but Sox whole lineup is firing on all cylinders. Pitching will be a major factor for both teams, I think.

Thanks. I'd feel more confident if E-Rod was locked in and Sale got the bad starts out of his system. I have a good feeling about these boys.
I hope the Dodgers move forward. That's going to be an intense game tonight.
