That's not the way you want it to end, but we win! The whole post/season race between these two teams could not have been any closer. Literally.

I was waiting for you! Yeah, it looked like a checked swing to me, but... Next stop, Atlanta!

Yeah, it's unfortunate. That's all anybody will talk about after 8 2/3 great innings of baseball.
I feel bad for SF fans. I do. I'd feel a lot worse if they hadn't been in first place because of the Ruf non-call earlier in the year.

I hope there isn't a mental letdown going into the NLCS. I think this series was THE showdown in many fans' minds.

In terms of opponent quality, it probably was, to be honest. But this is baseball and that doesn't mean anything. Like I said, it's got a lot of random in it. I imagine the players remember the Braves from last year well enough to not have much of a letdown.

Well, they've got a day and change to let it sink in and get mentally prepared to the Braves. The post-season is so much fun, even if my team (the Tigers) is still a few years from being back there again.

The Dodgers play-by-play man grew up a Tigers fan, you know. Definitely hear some Ernie Harwell in him from time to time.

Ernie was THE best. His voice was the sound of summer when I was growing up. He called the Dodgers-Giants tiebreaker game in 1951 for TV, BTW. Everyone remembers (or has heard) Russ Hodges' call on radio.

Go, Dodgers! My horse isn't in that race, but that was fun to watch. Not the best ending, but take it where you can get it!

Phooey. Both teams played well, though. Sox will get them tomorrow.

Sounds like the Banana Man had himself quite a game, though.

I thought he was going to carry the game. He could have had his own highlight reel.

Seems like his offense really came around in the second half of the season. Happy for him. His problem in LA was always the unreliable bat. (Or the bat that reliably could not hit righties at all, or off-speed stuff at all.) He always had power, though.

He did really shine late season after some issues at the plate. He makes me not miss JBJ in Center so much.

My latest from SP just arrived. Man, this Sara Eltang Canadian isn't just lovely. It's exactly the right size for me (overall and bowl size). It's hard to tell that from photos and measurements on a web site. Gonna have to inaugurate this one ASAP.

Ha! Whoops! Wrong forum. And too late to edit/delete it.
The boys in blue didn't win last night, but I didn't really expect them to. With their ace going and a bullpen game for us, if we won that one, we stole it. It's a 7-game series, and our pitching is lined up on regular rest now.

Two eggs over easy, wheat toast, and patty sausage.
I jest.
I drifted off in the 8th last night and missed a tough loss for the Dodgers. That leaves them in a pretty difficult deficit.
Sox, however, evened it with Houston. Two grand slams in consecutive innings--dayum! It back to Fenway for the boys tonight.

Well, we were down 2-0 and 3-1 to the Braves last year, so I don't think anybody's panicking just yet. They do need to win G3, though. There were some puzzling management decisions made by Dave last night, but mostly the Braves just played better.

I didn't get to watch it -- early start times and my work hours do not gee-haw -- but I have reliable reports that the Dodgers pulled out a win!

Yeah, they did get a come from behind victory. They were down by 3 when I switched to AL, so missed the rally.
Sox and Stros were neck and neck until Houston exploded at the end for the win. We get the early start today. Go Sox!

The Dodgers got a win to send it back to Atlanta for the big finish. Weird that they throttled us when we had one of our good starters going against their bullpen, and now we throttled them when they had their ace going against our bullpen. Both teams have starters lined up for the last 2 games, though. I'm just hoping our bats don't disappear again.

Taylor had a night. Good to see. Sox are in the same boat, back to Houston.
