urbino Thanks again! That's the way we used to do it, but no longer have a compatible device. It's not that expensive, though. There's at least a dozen dedicated MLB channels we used to get on cable, but only about half that now and the rest are blank (though they still list games on those channels). Uh, oh, there's a Phanatic on board! I caught the end of the Dodgers before beddy-bye. Aaand...Red Sox finally pulled off a win last night. Yeah, I think there's a ton of inexpensive devices you can use now. FireStick, etc. I just use my browser. Your old friend David Price didn't have a very good late appearance last night. His first appearance the other day wasn't much better. Hope he shakes the rust off after sitting out last year.

I wasn't sad about Price going. He can pitch really well, unless he doesn't. He's a bit of a loose cannon on and off the field.

My boys are on a roll. Eovaldi pitched well and the hitters were hitting. W-L .500.

My Rangers sold out the first game, which is nice to see, and scored 10 runs, and still managed to lose 14-10, but can I just say our ballpark has way too many pricing levels? There used to be like, three: lower, middle and upper decks, now there's thirty five. That's too damn many. Also, prices are getting out of hand. If you look at single game tickets, they range from $22 to $570. $570 for one game? Not too long ago, I used to sit behind the Left Fielder on the lowest level for nine bucks. C'mon guys. Way too many pricing levels.

Got that spanking new park to pay for, David. Somebody's gonna get the bill.
I'd like to see Chris Woodward succeed down there. He was our 1B coach for a few years. Always seemed like a good dude. And a really good infield coach. Justin Turner and Corey Seager both improved markedly under his tutelage.

Well, well. After losing 3 in a row, Sox won 4 in a row to tie for top of AL East. Ha ha, we're only a week in, I know.
I can't remember what we paid 6 or 8 years ago, but it wasn't $570! Who can afford it anymore. Actually, I think last time was the "obstructed view" seats, of which Fenway has many. Probably something crazy, like $40--great deal if one doesn't need to see left field or third or shortstop.

That's what I'd think, too, but I know the Dodgers -- the only team I really have any information on -- sell out virtually every home game (and often half of the road stadium), and season tickets are hard to come by. The prices are silly to even think about, but according to that whole supply-demand thing, apparently they're not high enough.

Many years ago in 1994, before the Rangers' season started I told my dad we should go to a game. We randomly picked a date: July 28.
The day before, my friends called to say they wanted to go that night, and did I want in (I hadn't been to a game yet). I was like, but I've been planning to go tomorrow all year. They said dude, go both nights! Oh yeah, good idea.
We decided to sit in a new section we'd never sat in before: the lower deck of the home run porch, and my seat sucked. The upper section supported the Jumbotron, so we couldn't see the replays, and there was a big supporting pillar in front of me, right between the pitcher and batter. Great if you didn't want to see the pitches.
The next night I go again with my dad to find a scalper. They all wanted too much, so we had already left and were on our way home, when we saw one final scalper maybe a mile from the stadium. I said what the hell, let's see what he wants. He wanted too much, I made an offer, stuck to it, and the game was about to start, so he said ok.
And that's how I got to sit in the left field Upper Reserved for Kenny Rogers' perfect game.

Well that worked out well. I haven't really been to many games in person, but I've hit on kind of a remarkable number of interesting ones. When I was a kid, I saw Don Sutton get thrown out of a game for doctoring the ball. Lasorda played the rest of the game under protest. Much later, a couple of friends and I went up to Chicago and saw a game at Wrigley. It turned out to be the infamous Randy Myers Poster Day game. Myers came in in the 9th, blew a big lead, and hundreds of rolled up posters went flying onto the field. Then the really good one: I was at Jim Abbott's no-hitter in Yankee Stadium. I had just moved to NYC for school. Several of us were wandering around, killing time. School didn't start for a couple of days, yet. So we decided to go to a game. I didn't particularly want to go. It was a chilly, drizzly, raw day, and looked sure to pour down any minute. I figured by the time we got up there, the thing would be rained out; or within a couple of innings, at least. Nope. They got it in. And Abbott pitched a no-no. As tends to be the case, there's probably half a million people today claiming they were at that game, but the truth is there was hardly anybody there. I don't remember what the actual attendance was, but it couldn't have been much more than 20,000. Probably less, if my memory isn't playing tricks on me.

Very cool stories, all, guys. I've never been to a history making game, but went a lot when I was young. Until 2004, Fenway tix were cheap and available. Then people had to start traveling to Baltimore to see Sox v Orioles games.
I did, however, go to Woodstock. I was still drooling, crawling, and pooping in a diaper, but I remember it like it was yesterday.

I think I'm banned from going to any more games, or at least should be. At my last job, guys would come by selling multi-game discount plans to Rangers and Stars games. I would get with a buddy I worked with and he'd buy a second ticket to some of the games.
The problem was, I'm kind of a loner, and after working all day most evenings I would decide I'd rather stay home and play computer games and drink cheap beer than go to the game I'd already paid for. On the last 20-game pack I bought, I only went two times.
The first time was with Gary, they were good seats on the field level maybe twenty rows back, behind third, but we got rained out. That was fun. The last time I sat by myself about five rows behind the Ranger dugout.
I'm wearing my glove, and drinking a beer, and see a foul ball that doesn't appear to be moving. It was only after it hit the empty seat beside me that I realized why it wasn't moving. I could have just stuck out my left hand and would have caught a foul ball not while holding a beer, but while drinking a beer. Would've been on the Jumbotron and maybe the evening news.
The guy behind me said he wondered why I didn't catch it.

And they won, 1-0.

Good for LAD on both counts. Day off for Red Sox. I'm happy as long as they stay ahead of the Yankees.
I broke down and have a Fire TV Stick on the way. Apparently the cable wizards moved some of the channels I am paying for from that "package" and want even mo' money to get the rest. Once I get the Fire set up a MLB.TV subscription, I'll cut the cable back. Ask me how I feel about Spectrum. No, don't. I don't like to use that kind of language.

Well, Kershaw outdueled Scherzer today, and the Dodgers are 8-2. Only 10 pitchers in history have won 3 or more Cy Youngs, and two of them faced off in this game. Both were excellent. Scherzer gave up a run on some bad luck, then their pen gave up a couple more.
Zach McKinstry seems to be our new, left-hand hitting Keekay Hernandez, Emily. Not quite as good defensively, but better bat-to-ball skills so far. Leads the team in RBI right now, which is crazy.

That is a match up for sure. I've seen more of Mad Max than Kershaw, but great hurlers, both.
Kiké and Verdugo are going to be assets. I'm just glad JD Martinez is hitting again. Devers had 2 HR and JD had 3 HR yesterday in a high scoring game. I thought the bullpen was going to give up an early lead, but they held on Not a great starter rotation and shaky bullpen this year. Broke my heart to see Gerrit Cole go to the Spankees, but Sox couldn't afford him.
I should have MLB.TV rocking and rolling by first pitch! Yay me!

Sawx are on a roll, baby. They were a little shaky yesterday, but pulled off the win. Last I heard, Chris Sale was to be back on the mound mid-May, which should broaden the rotation. They have 7 innings double header today. Joy. I didn't see any Dodgers lately, but it looks like they've been topping NL West. And urbino the Fire TV Stick rocks!

Yeah, the boys in blue are in the catbird seat, even with Mookie Betts and Cody Bellinger missing several games at the same time. The Pahds hit the skids a little. The Giants are better than people will expect. The Rockies are not. Haven't seen the D'backs. Getting Sale back should help quite a bit. That's a good arm. What's his innings limit going to be?

Bellinger and Betts out is tough, but the team must be taking up the slack.
I haven't heard much about Sale's return. I'm assuming he'll wade in gently. Verdugo was awesome today, both games, offense and defense. I'm not a fair-weather fan, but I didn't expect much of them this year. They're changing my mind. Alex Cora can really get a lot out of these boys.

Dodgers win a wild one over the Rox, 7-5. In a game where some of the regulars had the day off, multiple guys were playing out of their normal positions, Julio Urias wasn't his absolute sharpest, and the strike zone was on roller skates, Justin Turner and Max Muncy both hit 3-run bombs to out-distance Colorado. David Price got the save, looking easily the best he's looked with us so far.
Now to the weekend series against the Padres. Tougher competition.

Sox broke their streak. Oh,well, they kept going until the ninth. Verdugo got a tying three RBI double, but it wasn't enough.
