Yanks have had a couple recent years with significant injuries and pulled together. I haven't seen much of them this year, but it doesn't look like they are pulling it together.
Astudillo is trip in general. I mean that in a nice way.

I just read that Mad Bum had a no, no. Unfortunately, it was a double header, so he could only get 7 innings! Always something new.
Red Sox'S Pivetta was headed that way yesterday, but fell apart in the 6th of a normal game. The bullpen proceeded to walk in run after run.

Dodgers lost 3 of 4 to the Padres. Tonight's loss was courtesy of a bullpen implosion, which gave up a 6-run lead in the last couple innings, then we lost it in the 12th. It's a shame, too, 'cause Dustin May pitched maybe the best start of his young career.
C'est la guerre. It's April, and there's a long season ahead.

Whew! I haven't seen much of Jacob deGrom this year, but he's looking good on paper. It was a pitcher's duel tonight, but Red Sox 1 - Mets 0 in the end. It wasn't the most exciting game, but still a nail biter. Padres v D-Bags on when I get back in.

deGrom is a beast.
I haven't had time lately to watch any baseball to speak of. Too much work. Seems I haven't missed much, as the Dodgers have hit the skids in a big way.

Dodgers lose again. I miss the game because of work again. Yay?

Ooo. Dodgers dropped out of first place, barely. The season's still young, though. Boston, somehow, remains on top. They were swinging for the fences last night.

Dodgers figure it out, win 16-4 over the Brewers. And 3 of the Brewers runs scored off a sacrificial lamb we called up today just to keep from having to use anybody else. Dodgers hit a grand slam in the 1st, and then another one in the 2nd. That pretty well did it. Julio Urias was all but unhittable and went 7 innings.

Talk about starting off right! Boston gave three of four games to the dang Rangers. Still top of AL East, though. Travel tomorrow, then three games against Detroit at Fenway. That might get them back on track.

Losing 3 of 4 is aggravating, innit? Dodgers are headed down the interstate to play old friend Joc Pederson and the Cubs. Dustin May will be getting his elbow MRI at some point while we're there. News is expected to be terribad.

Yes, it was disheartening series.
I didn't know May hurt his elbow. Like Tommy John bad?
I'll find a game out west when I head to bed.

Yeah, Tommy John bad. Had the MRI today. So far they're saying UCL "damage" rather than "tear." As young and promising as he is, though, it's unimaginable they won't shut him down and get it fixed.
Today's game at Wrigley was rained out. Doubleheader tomorrow.

That stinks. It's a long frickin' rehab post-op.
I may catch the early LAD game today.

Yeah, and he was looking easily the best he's looked in the bigs so far, and he's always looked pretty dang good. Ya feel for the kid. And yeah, he's having TJS.
Sounds like the early game was a tire fire from a Dodger fan's perspective. This one now tied 1-1 in "extras" (the 8th).

Too bad for May. Best to get the surgery sooner rather than later if it's what he needs.
Those short games are deceiving, huh? You think there's a lot of game left when there isn't. I checked in on their eary edition.
Sox took Detroit tonight, but not easily. High scoring for both teams.

terrapinflyer , looks like Tigers-Red Sox game is shaping up to be an interesting one. Very much. Sox shouldn't have needed to work that hard to get the win. No offense, ha ha! I had to go out, but I couldn't leave and it was a long one.

Boston @ Baltimore is in rain delay tonight, so I was looking at standings. Dodgers may have stumbled a bit after a smoking start, but they're only 1.5 games back. Tigers, however...sorry, Pete. There's always the Red Wings. Oh. Hey, I had a few decades of Red Sox disappointment. I understand.

The Dodgers have been baseballing pretty badly for now going past 3 weeks. Got blown out by the Angels tonight, and suffered another injury, apparently. AJ Pollock was pulled from the game after a play in LF. Pretty, it ain't.

The party continues. Dropped another one this afternoon to the Angels. It's tough to win when you score 1 run.

Red Sox continue to play less than stellar baseball and keep pulling out ahead. Going for a 4 game sweep of Orioles tonight, then back to Boston for the A's.

That's the thing we just can't seem to manage to do -- get a win when we're not hitting on all cylinders.
Oh, I've been meaning to ask. In the games you've watched, have the umps been consistently calling a very wide strike zone all season? It's been consistent and extremely noticeable in almost all the games I've watched. It's hard to figure. How do that many different umps suddenly lose sight of the width of the plate at the same time?

They couldn't do it tonight. Oh, well.
I haven't noticed a widening strike zone, actually. Bad calls here and there, for sure, but nothing like that--with a general trend. Hunh. I'll have a more critical eye now, though.

Hey, hey, the Dodgers won 2 in a row! Maybe they're getting back on track. Have an off day, today, of course.
Zone was still wide.

I don't have a way to watch any of my Rangers' games, so I'm gonna need you two to set up a live chat and commentate, please. You'll have to decide who's the play-by-play and who's the color guy. And terrapin, no more of that 'dang Rangers' stuff
