My pipes and cigars order arrived today, a day early actually! In it were 3 pounds of LBF, 3 pounds of Sutliff Virginia slices, 3 tins each of OGS, Erinmore and both blue and yellow Capstan, all for the cellar. I also threw in a tin of Three Nuns. Having some now in a Savinelli 621. Only issue is this pipe is a p lip, and I haven't developed taste buds on the roof of my mouth yet, so time will tell if I truly enjoy this blend!

You will be rewarded richly as the flake and slices age.

DTM Salty Dogs in a late 1970’s James Upshall panelled billiard. What do you think of Salty Dogs? I like it a lot. Dark aged Virginia's, a touch of plummy Perique, and a splash of Rum. I shave off thin slices (~1mm) and give it a spin in my coffee grinder, set it out in the sun to dry for 15-30 minutes. On a day like today where the dewpoint is somewhat high, it smokes better when a little drier. And the flavor is very good. Sweetness of the Virginia's with some dark fruit, Plummy Perique is background player, and the Rum, which doesn't sublimate the tobaccos. A bit pricy at just over $20 for a 50 g. plug, but well worth it.

Stokkebye Navy Flake in a self-made rusticated, bent Dublin. Hey, nice. Didn't know you rolled your own. Haha. Only the one. Kids got me a couple kits for Christmas. Scroll saw, a few files, a bunch of sandpaper, dye and poly. Lotsa work, but it was fun. I learned that I don't know anything about making pipes. When I feel inspired, I'll do the other one.

Morning all. I’m beginning to sound like a broken record but the heat wave continues in my little part of the world. Temperature today expected to top out at 92f and as usual, getting an early start to my day. Bald Headed Teacher and Vanilla Custard to keep me company while at the office. Happy Friday everyone.

Last evening's final bowl was a spill tray mix of Engine 99 and Lancers slices in my RDpipes Rhodesian. This morning I started with Old San'francisco in an old mountain larual pipe ,carved by a Carolina craftsman named Jerry Perry.

June 25th So once past all the gruesome details of recent events there has been a lovely cool down with some rain in the region giving a much needed pause in my cigar shopping.. My tastes run upper shelf and it does burn the cash, pun intended. So my few "work" pipes have been out and it has been nice to hang out at the house with the better blends of my sampler stocks. Haunted Bookstore, has a real charm and has been loaded often to good flavor and body. This blend may not make it on my fall reorder but again, it may. mid way into the tin is a pretty good metric for me. Anyhoo, the c&d burley #1 has been nice as well. flavor cuts through the damp conditions well enough outshone only by black frigate which seems quite tolerant to rainy days just have to keep the rubout at medium for my best performance. I got it chunky in the middle once testing how it changed flavors and well, you all can guess it didnt work out. Anyhoo, hope all are well and have a great week!

P.S.Burley# 702, in a black blasted tankard/sitter/poker kinda pipe, marked "made in London England" on the very bottom. I've shifted this pipe from it's place in my "bedroom collection" to a slot of honor among my weekly puffers. I like the style of this ole boy and it smokes like a champ, so its high time I put him back to work. I'm really taken with this 702 burley; it has a mellow, earthy side to it that the 312 seems to lack, but in all fairness I haven't smoked much of the P.S. 312 yet...time will tell.
