Smoking Peterson Irish Flake in a Savinelli Dolomiti 320 KS with water on the side. Watching a B movie on Amazon. Sometimes they're surprisingly good.

Captain Black Royal in an old lumberman...this old pipe is a fine smoker ,but he's been out of action about as long as I have. Coffee on the side, and a trip to the gym in the near future!

An interesting mix of roughly equal parts Westminster and Grey Ghost, in a cob. What’s the verdict Jason? Worth trying again?

June 9th. After the penny/pence incident and the ultimate waste of 6 ounces of tobacco It was time to decide the next tin to open. Now all this is not as disasterous as it may seem. I purchased a number of blends on the edges of my personal tastes to sample so finding a blend as unappealing was expected though I tried to select along a basic line of flavor profiles with research.
The Old Ones series from C&D sounded intriguing so I ended up with all but one (which was too far away from my tastes) so I dove in to Mad fiddler Flake. Awakened Elder was the first tin with its salty briny overtones, good tobacco and medium power. Mad Fiddler Flake has a graham and prune/fig tin note that translates to the bowl in small ways. power is below medium which is fine. The prune topping? is a better version of the flavor used in several blends I have tried lately. no saccrine bitterness as the others had. Wont buy another tin as the focus is more on the "dr. Pepper" flavor than the graham cracker which would be awesome but it is what it is. overall the tobaccos used are good, the top flavor is mildly pronounce and does not return as a chemical taste at the bottom of the bowl. the tobacco is very soft flakes making an easy rubout but dry enough to light right out of the tin. I do find the blend does better in smaller pipes as my larger ones brought up the prune flavor too much. the smaller bowls seem to balance that a bit better. anyhoo, have a great day!

Broke out some Gawith Hoggarth Bosn Cut Plug from Jun 2008 to load up this Erik Stokkebye 2012 4th Generation pipe. Such a lovely tobacco...with all the GH talk going on here - I just HAD to dip in to this jar.

Temporarily put aside the cigars to fire up some brown bogie in a Savinelli 320 with a cold Coors I really, really like this tobacco, but it does require a lot of re-lights. I need to improve my rope cutting/ rubbing process I guess. It’s the closest thing in pipe tobacco I’ve found to cigar flavor and room note. Many thanks to nightking for introducing me to this!
