Engine 99 in a Diplomat...the cob seems to bring out more of the sweetness in this blend. I’ve been sitting on the fence about this blend for some time. Would appreciate your honest assessment Herb. All of the "Engine" blends keep catching my eye, but I've never pulled the trigger on any. Maybe because there are too many. It's like the C&D Burley flakes.

Get off the fence, Ted...this tobacco is balanced with an artist hand. Each part of the blend adds equally to the smoking experience; the smoke is creamy and yet I think of the flavor as crisp, and straightforward. I think you'll find it a blend with latakia, rather than a latakia blend. It goes nicely with coffee in the morning ,and I found it tasty with some Crown Royal from my "retirement bottle". Herb, were you hitting the bottle with your morning coffee?🤪 Seriously though, sounds like a good blend, I've added it my list.

NO...not with my coffee, but later in the day. I have some Crown Royal I got as a retirement gift, Two years ago...now and then I'll reach for a nip with my evening pipe, but my coffee intake is still far ahead.

Sutliff Peach Cobbler in a Peterson Churchwarden. Quite nice I see you’re on the Sutliff wagon. If memory serves me correctly, you’ve entered an aromatic phase with Vanilla Custard and Peach Cobbler. May I suggest trying their Creme Brûlée to complete your trifecta? Great smoke. 😁👍

hope all having a nice weekend so far. In from usual 2-miles power walks earlier, Quorum 6x50 for company. High rated bundle cigar, closest I have to a premium name brand. After the humans are fed, Boswell Northwoods (gifted) in Ashton Magnum bulldog & continue with the papers. Possibly some yard work later, finish cigar & Exotique in lg yard pipe for company.
63, overcast at present, headed for 63 eventually
Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY pipe/cigar since '62

Morning everyone. Up a little early then usual to watch the final day of The Open. Afterwards I’ll be at the office to create my own magic. SPC’s Plum Pudding and Virginia Slices to keep me company. Haunted Bookshop as my reserve just in case it gets a little slow or I smoke too fast.

Having a test run of a home mix from a few weeks back, " York River " ,in a Leonessa billiard, hot coffee on the side. A small amount of Yorktown with P.S. Burley 312 and equal amounts of a caramel flavored cavendish...the flecks of Yorktown make for a nice coloring in the jar, and the room note is wonderful...the burn rate is such that I only needed one relight. The flavor needs more burley for me to think of this as a success, and perhaps more jar time.

C&D Visions of Celephais in my beat up little unfinished Baraccini poker. It took on some great patina!!!! It’s worn well and I do love the patina. My only complaint is that the rim has soaked in some char that I can’t get clean. But it was my second pipe and i’ve put a lot of miles on it.

July 18th. The morning was cool and dry for the sunday group ride along the backroads to The Country Cafe in Festus Mo. I recommend the bacon omelette. A nice bowl of Lane Q1-1Q? in the luxor basket pipe. The cob reached the end of service as the travelling pipe and I have yet to replace it. later today is some star of the east in the Charatan's Make Executive. that blend sings in that pipe. must be the taper which is quite sharp. I do have more oriental blends so we will know how the pipe really runs soon enough! Have a great week!
