No good deed goes unpunished. Aren’t you glad you put that darn thing together? Actually, yes. It looks nice on the porch. The chairs are comfortable. Added another, small table between the chairs (for tobacco/ashtray/whiskey glass). Its a nice place to sit and watch the world go by. Pain in the a$$ to put together. Part of one chair had mounting holes off by an inch. Had to drill my own. But then, it was an opportunity to show off my problem-solving skills to my wife. She's happy, so I'm happy. You’re a good man Pete. Things I like about you sir! Cheers……

If I do nice things for my wife, she doesn't get upset when I buy tobacco.

July 2nd. What a difference one day can make. Yesterday was hot and humid and this morning is dry and feels chilly. My latest order from Mars cigars arrived yesterday with an 8 oz black frigate can and four 2oz tins of test blends I selected from what has to be the last C&D blends I care to try based on descriptions and reviews. Purple Cow is the first I opened. As a long time cigar smoker my ears perk up whenever I hear a pipe blend has cigar leaf added. Purple Cow seems to be of two minds. Bowls start with a nice flavor but halfway down the blend loses the flavors and settles into a slightly acrid yet very "heady" smoke. I would place it as a cold weather blend for those moments where flavor matters less than a quick bowl with plenty of power. It is also a good first bowl of the morning. All that said, I feel the maduro cigar leaf they selected was not as good as it could be. plenty of sweet leaves out there that could be used to help the blend in the last half of a bowl. Anyhoo, still watching the mail for the my Castello billiard!!!

Morning everyone. Getting an early start as I’m heading off to the office a little early. Haunted Bookshop and PS Luxury Navy Flake to keep me company. Taking a page from Jason’s playbook ( fadingdaylight), “May the Fourth be With You.” Enjoy the holiday wherever you are. 🎆

Royal Yacht in a Rossi Rubino Antico. Hadn’t smoked it in a while. Didn’t realize Tobacco Reviews had this as an aromatic and didn’t remember it being so strong. Good but strong.

Smoking a mix of bits and pieces of McClelland aros, plus some sutliff tobaccos from a small jar marked "MC Morning", one result of my night of mixing and jarring. All I can say about it is, You can't win em all. The pipe however ,is another matter; it's a N.O.S. Kaywoodie Standard apple from the late sixties. A pal of mine wanted to try the pipe back in 1968. He picked some tobacco and this little apple and a Dublin, and gave up after three or four bowls. He stuck the pipes in his desk, where they waited thirty plus years for me to come along and add them to my collection. The usual morning coffee on the side.

I like a triangular shank. That one's a doozy. Plus all that pretty birdseye. The shank shape is interesting in that the bottom two sides are flat but the side across the top is curved. I got a real good deal on this one as an estate with a good amount of bowl scorching. Pipe mud took care of that easily enough.

Started the day with Haunted Bookshop and coffee on the front porch. Moved into the backyard to take care of the lawn and other chores. In between tasks, I smoked Night Train and Match Victorian. Hope you're all having a great day.
