First, English Rum in a Hillson egg, now, a spill tray bowl of burley leavings...four bowls into the English Rum now, and my hope that this blend remained unchanged over the years is fading...the tobacconist I spoke with may not have changed it, but the smoke lacks the thickness of volume, and the flavor in a briar more about the rum aromatic, with none of the bread like notes I remember. In a meer it seems more latt forward and not near so sweet, so there is hope that I'll smoke it, but I'm not likely to reorder. Sad too...like so many things today, it carries the same name ,but not the came content.

After reading the article, I'm enjoying the Uni Flake even more. Jim Lilley sure liked his Petersons. Quite a large collection - especially of one brand.

He ran the peterson pipe forum for years, his collection was breathtaking, and as he realized that Alzheimer’s was sucking his life away, most of his collection was gifted back to Peterson’s. I tried to broker a deal to have him interviewed on the pipesmagazine podcast, but he did not feel comfortable in doing so as the disease progressed. Truly a giant in the Peterson’s history… a really nice guy.

English Rum in an old meer, a lattice billiard with amber stem...fully rubbed, the latakia takes a step to the front with the sweetness of the rum dampened a mite. Much ,much better. A huge mug of coffee close at hand!

Finishing off my open Pegasus River in my 1982 Dunhill Root Briar group 4 Panel. Beau.ti.ful pipe! Thanks! I found this as an unsmoked estate about a year and a half ago. Would you believe that you’re looking at the worst side? A full set of pictures can be found here: imgur.com/a/be6As8kNothing but vertical on the sides and only birdseye top and bottom. I’m mystified as to why this pipe doesn’t have at least two or three stars of DR rating as I’ve seen DR with much worse grain. Then again, I’m glad it doesn’t have a DR rating as I wouldn’t have been willing to pay the resulting price if it did.
