Today I thought I'd finally try my Escudo. Thought I'd try folding and stuffing for the first time. Not sure how it's working out. Seems a little hard to keep lit. I usually run the flakes out. Contrary to what people (for some reason) tell you on the internet (see the irony here?) flakes and coins are not meant to be smoked by being folded and stuffed into a pipe. Go ahead and rub it out well and make sure to dry it a good 15-20 minutes first. I'm smoking some C&D John Marr in an MM Old Dominion Richmond cob with reed stem.

Started the day with Haunted Bookshop in the Friday cob and coffee in the cave. Sunny morning, hopefully we'll dry out a bit today. Now smoking Eight State/LC Va-Bur in the same cob. Doing a little housekeeping in the cave.

May have found my favorite tobacco to date (granted there is many I haven’t tried) in the form of Escudo! Smoking one coin of Escudo in my green Pete currently. Sort of shocked I haven’t tried this one yet. My what other hidden gems there might be out there.

Finishing some Newminster Flake I had put down earlier, while some Brown Bogie dries a bit. Fizzy water and bitters to wash it down. A lady that smokes Brown Bogie, and a fashionista at that! I extend my pinkie delicately whilst smoking it, of course. Edit; CD 3F in a Legend. Glass of still water with.

C&D From Beyond in an older, undated "Made in London England" no name bent billiard. Can't give an opinion on it's smoking qualities until a few bowls but the smell is of Dunhill Nightcap and of a high grade full English mixture.

Smoking this mornings Black Irish X in the bent billiard meer. My first time with this blend. Much more subtle in flavor than I expected.

Smoked Eight State/LC Va-Bur on the drive to see Dad. Showed up during "mocktail" hour. He was drinking an NA beer and eating popcorn with the other residents. Smoked Three Friars on the way home. Dinner is started. Might be an opportunity for a cigar and a beer.

That GBD pot is awesome, Ron. Bowl looks to have a great stout pot profile to it. The C&D From Beyond release is a really good full English, heavy on the Cyprian Latakia and excellent quality and burn rate. No flavoring added, straight up English.

It's their Collector line of oversized pipes. The From Beyond sounds right up my alley.

Storm Front with my coffee this morning, the pipe is a short stocky billiard fashioned from the remains of two estate Willards, a "Franknpipe", and one that seems to be the perfect Storm Front pipe. The tobacco and flame came together this morning , and layers of sweet, nutty burley flavor rolled over me at a level I'm not used to from this blend...the perfect combo.

Started this cool and drizzly day with Haunted Bookshop in the Saturday cob and coffee on the front porch. Sitting in son's garage now, with Three Friars in the same cob. Waiting on home security tech to arrive and install new control screen.

Enjoy the family visit, knighting. BTW, how do you like that Vintage Syrian? It used to actually have Syrian Latakia in it, but these days has Cyprian Latakia. Did you get an old tin with Syrian?

I saw an interview with Per Jensen of MacBaren's and he said that though they once had a large quantity of Syrian Lat in storage, it was running out several years ago. With Vintage Syrian they actually began substituting the Cyprian for the Syrian in small quantities until after several years they had completed switched over. He said they also made some small changes in the orientals to try and keep the overall flavor the same. He gave no dates.
