Just had one of those installed in August, Ron. In 2020 Sally passed just south of me moving at a snails pace, and beat up the trees pretty good. I was 5 days without power. Later that season one of the Greek named storms (Zeta?) passed just to my west after moving over coastal Mississippi. It brought down the trees that Sally spared. Another 5 days without power. Luckily it was cooler after the second storm so it was a bit less miserable. I decided no more worrying about storing gasoline for the portable generator (which was only big enough to power a 110 window air conditioner and small refrigerator anyway). The whole house generators were almost impossible to get after that. Big demand. But I got on a list and got one the next shipment that came through. I would tell you that pouring a slab, burying a gas line, and having electricians install the transfer switch cost almost as much as the generator itself. But it is comforting to hear it run weekly for a few minutes, and being able to look out a window and seeing a green indicator light (meaning it is ready to go). I now extend my middle digit to hurricane season. Whole house generator with automatic cut over and optional cold weather starting kit is must in rural Michigan where no power means no heat and no water. We finally got ours several years ago after loosing power for 3.5 days when blizzard hit here. We have gas heat and a gas cooktop. It's not so much the cold weather that we worry about, but the summer heat. An August without AC and we are done for.

Not worried about winter at all. Some winters here never see the freezing mark. Here are a couple of pictures I posted here of Christmas day three years ago. My family is from a little island off the Alabama coast. This is our idea of a white Christmas. Looking south off the deck across the Gulf of Mexico. The little spot on the horizon just left of center is a shrimp boat. High that day was mid 70s: Same view from an enclosed section of deck. I don't know what I am smoking, but it was in my Savinelli 806: Hoping Christmas will be that pleasant again this year....

Point Clear is not on the Gulf. Actually, it is about halfway up Mobile Bay. If you look across the water from Point Clear, you will see Mobile County.

Someone secretly mail-bombed me with a half-pound of a tobacco called Norse Gold from Tinder Box today. Thank you to whomever, never heard of this and was a complete surprise.
Suppose I'll try this in a Mark Twain cob. A big thank you to whomever gifted this to me!

My best friend's family were multi generation bar pilots on Mobile Bay.
