Inaugurating the Peterson Deluxe System 5 Natural with some Davidoff Danish Mixture. Perrier Lime on the side. Anybody heard from Lews Therrin recently? I know it's early, but what do you think? It's too early to say. THe walls are a bit thin on the way down so I have focused my attention on making sure it wouldn't get too hot rather than how it smokes with the P'lip and all. More to come later.

Storm Front ,in a huge briar calabash, marked Prince of wales. The deep rustication on this pipe gives it a wonderful hand feel, and it passes a pipe cleaner like a champ, yet the airflow is more restricted than I would have it. I'd like to open the airway myself, so a few tips would be welcomed.

Fresh 2020 Haunted Bookshop in an MM Let Freedom Ring 5th Ave cob. Fresh vs 5-6 years aged is like two different blends. The 2016 vintage I've been smoking is more akin to Old Joe Krantz in that it's much more musty, sour, fermented VA and perique flavors, and deep and rich. Fresh Haunted Bookshop is much more toasty/nutty/dry burley flavor forward. Aged, it melds so well and gets crystally, sour, and funky.
This massive difference is something I've kind of been torn on for some years. I grew to really love Haunted Bookshop back around 2015 from the fresh bold burley flavor and the hints of condimental perique and VA are absolutely perfect. When I first tasted some with 4-5 years of age I thought, "Wow, this has fermented and completely morphed into a new blend!" Which leads me to always want to have fresh on hand. After smoking a pound or more of well aged over the years I also really love it aged. In a sense, I have two different blends and the aged nearly morphs into a sweet/tangy fermented VA forward, and bolder OOMPH from the fermented and well married perique. I guess the only real complaint is if things hit the worst case of scenarios, all I'd be left with is aged Haunted Bookshop.
Another caveat to fresh vs aged is that, I've smoked many blends over the years with a bunch of age and loved them so much that I didn't care for the blend once I finally tried it fresh. I was accustomed to the aged profile. I guess I've got the best of both worlds here.

My Haunted Bookshop doesn't stay in the cellar long enough to get more than a year on it.

I think I had 3-4 pounds of 2016 that year, and over this next month the next time there's a 15% off sale I'll be buying 4-5 pounds. When I'm able to, I try to have vintages of each year for my favorite blends and enough that at least some will get aged for 5-10 years.

Like most mornings working from home, I made my way up to my office / mancave, fired up the computer and stoked a bowl of EMP. Sipping black coffee.
Later in the day it's Earl Grey and some MM965.
This afternoon it's more Earl Grey and a big bowl of Father Dempsey in a nice large Edwards Billiard.
cheers

Milan's Our Carter Hall in the Friday Savinelli. Who wins the Carter Hall bracket? (Allowing that the CH has an advantage over the OCH in being aged.)

Middleton's Carter Hall in the Friday Savinelli, thanks to @zach. Thanks buddy, I'm enjoying it Excellent! Will probably take a few bowls before you can compare it with the Milan's match. Glad you're liking it right off the bat, and it's certainly in a mild league of it's own. It's doesn't really age much to my tastes in a few years, but that Carter Hall is from mid 2019.

That said, the CH wins for me. A bit richer, more blended flavor (kind of like 2 or 3 day old chili melds together). Nice nutty flavor from the burley, occasional hints of the topping. Very nice.
I'll be adding a tub to my next SP order for certain.
PS - that said the Milan OCH is still a nice smoke, and I'm glad I have a goodly bit on hand
