The Perique in it is top notch 19 year old genuine St. James from Mark Ryan. SmokingPipes got all those plugs and 8 ounce boxes and bags in stock. (Much but not all of it sold out now!) But what a time to bring back what's been missing for a decade+ from America.

I guess it does, I was told it didn't. I would have been stacking them up if it was a straight red like it was in '19. That stuff was delicious

It has Perique in it. The tin says that it has Mark Ryan’s 2003 Perique. The guy that introduced me to this said that the 2022 is the exact same blend as the 2021 was. If any of you are familiar with Alan Harrelson from Old Carolina Pipe Cottage, he is a friend of mine, and the one who introduced me to this.

That stuff was delicious Conversely, I went after it this year strictly because it had genuine well aged St. James Perique in it from Mark Ryan. The red Virginia that Sutliff sources otherwise is average leaf but I like what they've been doing in their Virginia crumble kake releases the past couple years. As with their others they offer from Sutliff and make for Watch City and other shops, this one is doused with vinegar.

I should have typed that out differently. I was saying that it did, in reply to Charlie's post. I skipped this year's because I have a ton of VaPers, including several tins from last year. Don't get me wrong, it's an excellent blend! I just need more straight reds in my stable.

Ya gotta stock what you need more of so it only makes sense. I was going to just buy 3 pounds of Haunted Bookshop for the 20% C&D sale, until I saw the Sam Gawith drop myself.

It’s basically Bijou without the Katerini. However, don’t smoke it young. Age a minimum of a year, but ideally at least two.

I'll definitely check it out. I just read the description and they got me with "deep red" and "honey"
I have a tin of Red Carpet that I bought 4 years ago. The plan was to try it, see if I liked it, and then stack it deep. I never got beyond the point of sticking it in a box.

I went to dip into the Old Gowrie again and discovered I do not have the couple of pounds of it I thought I had. Remedying that while the remedy is available.

Came home to packages from Wilke, Country Squire and Smoking pipes. I could tell the Wilke package was there as soon as I opened the door and could smell peanut butter.

The 1.5 lbs. of Old Gowrie arrived (along with some Hal o' the Wynd). Man, I want my dying bed to smell like this stuff. I will go gently into that good night.

Wife’s Registration for her newer Toyota Avalon, was gonna buy her a new Pruis, she said no I don’t go to my daughter in Mandeville, DONT need to spend 40,000$ buy me a Newer Toyota Avalon. So be it, found her a one owner with low mileage and saved half of what I would have spent. MORE MONEY FOR SCRATCHOFFS!!

My wife had a hair appointment in Atlanta today and we were running late so I drove her in her car. 10 year old Scion XB. I was following a Charger 392 and just staying with him. Looked down and I was doing 105. Car still feels solid, doesn't rattle and everything works. She wouldn't take another car if it was free.

2017 Avalon, good solid sedan. Got more gizmos than she’ll ever use..Loves her blind spot mirrors. Put new tires, battery, later I’ll have the transmission oil changed, 60,000 miles on it, she likes it that’s good enough for me, my old Tundra Is ok for me. My best vechiles is my 5400 John Deere, love that tractor!

I guess that's kind of a local thing. When somebody uses a word you've never heard before and have no idea what it means, somebody might reply, "You're another one." The joke is that the word must be some name they're calling you. It's a way of saying "I don't know what that is."

My Christmas present to myself arrived today: 2x Obsidian Oil 2x 100gm Black Mallory 1x 100gm Accountants' Mixture 1x 50gm Professional Mixture 2018 Dunhill Shell Briar group 2 Quaint Belge This makes Dunhill #12 for me. Belge is not one of Dunhill's standard numbered shapes, hence why it’s called a Quaint. I really like Dunhill's Belge as it has just the right amount of slight cant to my eye. I don’t like most Cutty shapes as being too canted and I don’t like Devil Anse either. I never set out to be a Dunhill collector, but once you start smoking them, something undefinable about them gets under your skin and sinks its hooks in. All 12 of my Dunhills are straights. I have also found that modern production Dunhills are really good pipes. Half of mine are 2015 or newer. However, my new ones are all blasts as I think the Root Briars or Amber Roots are over priced. If anyone else uses Obsidian Oil… the packaging has changed. The bottles used to just be open mouth and I’d dip the end of a pipe cleaner. Now, the bottles have a dropper spout. A full set of pipe pics can be found here: imgur.com/a/glR0sAM

Thanks!
Black Mallory is excellent. These cans are to deepen my existing cellar stock. To me, it’s more of a medium English than the full English it is billed as. As with most every Virginia and English blend, I prefer to get at least a year of age on it.
Accountants' and Professional are new to me. Based on their descriptions and reviews, they should be blends that are in my wheel house. I’ll be popping both sometime in the near future, having a few bowls, and then setting the jars aside to get some age.

They seem like the ones stores have in stock most of the time, along with Sterling Flake and Black Virginia. It’s always made me think they must not be very good, so I haven’t bought more than one tin of them. Maybe I’m reading the situation wrong, though.

Five years ago, Rattray’s was very easy to find and up in stock everywhere. Then, it suddenly became an Internet darling. So, I wouldn’t put much stock in the current hype popularity. With Rattray's, I’ve found it best to read reviews and see what sounds like I may like. Although, I read the reviews for the descriptions and impressions as the star ratings on TobaccoReviews.com seem low. For my favorites: Red Rapparee 3.4; 3 Noggins 2.4; Jocks Mixture 2.9; Black Mallory 3.1. 🤷♂️
