RIP Jerry Garcia (August 1, 1942-August 9, 1995) I can't believe it's been 27 years. I wish we had had him around longer. He brought much joy and helped me through times of great sadness. I still remember where I was when the news hit ... RIP Captain Trips!

I still remember where I was when the news hit ... RIP Captain Trips! Me, too. I usually kept the work radio on classic rock, because my worker bees agreed on it. They understood why I pulled rank that night. They dang well listened to 11/6/1977 and 10/18/1984, because that's what I had in the car.

We attended a vigil in Estrella Park with a guest appearance from Ken Kesey who did some reading.

Cool. Some friends went to the Ratdog show that night. I guess it was weird but positive.

Saw the GD at the Cow Palace twice, once at the Fillmore. One of the CP shows was a New Year’s Eve show with Blue Oyster Cult… “ Don’t fear the Reaper” was played just before the Dead came on… good fit!

We used to have a guy on here that was so famous, one day he dropped acid with Jerry at beach parties, the next day he traded dueling farts with Mary Tyler Moore!

They put that NYE 1976 Cow Palace show on CD. I'm jealous.
I didn't see them until 1983. I won’t say how old I was, but it involved a road trip and "sleeping over at a friend's house." Good times.

I saw Kansas regularly back in the late 70’s in Wichita, Black Oak Arkansas often on the same ticket. I couldn’t imagine seeing Kansas without Robbie Steinhart as the front man, not to mention Kerry Livgren and Steve Walsh.😕

Definitely different. Heck, GD without Brent was weird, as much as I like Hornsby, and Vince was OK. I won't get started on weird Yes lineups!

Pretenders 2006 reissue with some live stuff and alts. It's pretty neat if you have a soft spot for late 70s/early 80s punk/new wave/pop stuff, as I do.
I scored a SBD of PHILCO from Friday night at Sacred Rose Festival from another forum. Phil Lesh (just turned 81yo!), Jeffs Tweedy and Chimenti, John Molo, Stu Allen, et al. One of my favorite Cannon's Jug Stompers tunes from the primal Dead era that made a comeback post-Garcia, "Viola Lee Blues." More jazzy here. This was on the 'Tube already (it's the end of "Shakedown" before VLB).
