I was surprised to see that Friday night was the final show for the Scorpions tour of North America at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
It was definitely in the top 10 of concerts that I have attended, and that is saying something.
Guitars, and vocals were incredible… a bass solo, and a drum solo on par with Neal Pert. A river of thousands screaming after the concert, it was electric.
I told Greg Pease about it on Saturday morning…” I would have skipped the Friday night pipe show to see that”.
The Scorps played for three hours, no intermission, they started the US tour at Planet Hollywood in Vegas, ended at Mandalay and determined that the fans were going to get their moneys worth.
Not a bad seat in the house, and our tickets were $57 apiece.

We didn't know about the show till the wife and I stumbled onto it at Mandalay Bay on her shopping trip, the same day...had I known, I would have called Greg up. As it was earlier in the day, when I arrived at the hotel Greg was standing outside, I approached him..."I have a bone to pick with you, I have this swollen tin....you put this on the market? GLP Stratford from 2011.  On Saturday, I got him to crack it...a killer smoke.   No...he didn't change shirts, the first pic next to me was taken on Sunday. |

Put on some Frankie Valli songs for my 9 month old granddaughter that really digged it.
From the 50’s to the 70’s…this vocalist really had some great hits.

I just learned that John Kadlicek is playing with JGB/Melvin Seals. They're only out west, but maybe someday they'll come to the hinterland. He was great in Dark Star Orchestra and Further. I was disappointed he didn't go back to DSO after Further. I've been at some good DSO shows with Jeff Mattson at the helm, though.
Just a brief respite from the dumpster fire my life is lately:

I think that he did classical gas at the same concert. He was truly a phenomenal musician...pretty good set of pipes too! |
