Got my Koegels order in forgot what I had ordered till I opened the box. Got a Garlic ring, 4 packs of Viennas, a Braunschweiger and a pack of bratwurst. The Bratwurst was really good. cant wait to try the rest. Great stuff! It is nice to be able to try out the regional products where the proprietors have earned the respect of the citizenry. Cafe Du Monde in Louisiana Collins street in Corsicana El Potrero Trading Post in Chimayo NM. Koegels in Flint Good to live in an age where you are not limited by your locale to acquire it.

37th Anniversary dinner at Nibi, the fancy restaurant at Firekeepers Casino. We started with soups and Oysters Rockefeller. For mains, I had Lamb Wellington and my wife had Lobster Thermidor plus we split a side order to Sweet Corn Brûlée. Accompanied it with a bottle of Pear Sake. It sounds like a fitting way to celebrate this mile marker on your journey together, Congratulations! I feel sad for our brothers that for whatever reason, the marriage did not work out, a long-term relationship with a partner that stands the test of time is priceless. A woman that has your best interest at heart, a trusted confidant, and loyal to the core enriches the journey. Enjoy the day John, and there are even better days ahead.

A member of our pipe club that I had not seen in quite awhile showed up at the meeting with several tins of tobaccos that he is not smoking and giving away mostly all McClelland's and heavy on the frog. This tin caught my eye, I always wanted to try it and it really is great. It will probably be my first and last tin...this one is from 2008.

I finally got through to the Keith County sheriff and they are going to check on him. A great move on your part, Ron. You rock, brother! As for Bob… knock it off! No more of this nonsense.

I bought a book just called Cooking. It's huge and covers everything from the basics. If you master the book, there isn't anything you can't cook. I wish I had it 50 years ago. I find it overwhelming now. I feel the same way about a few other books that I have.

Real bad day. Almost passed out twice while on my feet. Weak as heck. I can manage to feed myself and reach the bathroom. Chores are impossible. I cannot walk that far. Tomorrow is another day and I hope to feel better. No one said Chemo was easy. Onwards! Hope that tomorrow's a better day. Amen. If the chores are impossible, do not attempt to do them. Tomorrow is another day. Take it easy, them warning signs are there for a reason.

A quick question from you stogie heads. I am going to pick up 20-30 cigars at Hilands Cigars this weekend for my brother at an up coming reunion. He likes 60 ring gauge Maduro, so I was going to pick up a box of: www.hilandscigars.com/shop/cigars/partagas/partagas-black-label/partagas-black-label-gigante-6x60-box-20/But it seems that "variety is the spice of life", should I just ask the tobacconist to fill me a box of quality cigars in his wheelhouse? I know by reputation, that this tobacconist would do right by me if I took that course.

Years ago while in a restaurant, I spoke to a learned chef about cooking for a crowd. I told him that I am fine cooking for 5-10 people, but serving a crowd seemed like a daunting task. He told me "Get the book food for fifty" If you cook for 25 you can scale back the recipes by 50%.
A family reunion is coming up in less than a week, and while I communicated to everyone that they should expect no meals we will wing it and will have some impromptu meals, me and others are bringing pots, utensils, and outdoor stove. Most people have cabins with kitchens, and there are plenty of restaurants in Woodland Park Colorado, so no one will starve. We are expecting 50 people...
Any way, the book came today, a 1979 edition that picking out a few recipes, it looks like there are some great recipes that would stand the test of time, pretty simple but they seemed to focus on some great principles when putting a meal together. Something as simple as tuna salad sandwiches with chips, or scrambled eggs for 50 (hint 75 eggs)...looking forward to trying out a few recipes.
I did contact a Mexican restaurant for a one banquet meal that will happen, and with the options they suggested $25 for each man, woman, and child, (basically a build your own burrito and taco bar)
It is a better deal to let everyone choose from a menu by far...for many reasons!
The more current versions of that book are pretty pricey, even on Abebooks.com

Watched "The Enemy Below" last night. Curt Jergens and Robert Mitchum. Very well done. USN DE versus Heine U-Boat. One plot glitch. The writers stated the DE is diesel electric in an early scene which is correct. Later in the movie the crew is dealing with boiler problems. I doubt these ships were equipped with both but who knows? The Germans were portrayed with dignity and respect. The one Nazi on board not withstanding. I knew an ex U-Boat Captain when I was a kid and sailed with him on his sailboat. So, I have a more tolerant view. This is not to say there was not excessive cruelty by others. Another old family friend included a CPO veteran of the USCG and the northern convoy route to Russia. He had a distinctly different view of the Germans from the Battle of the Atlantic. It's fine to treat the enemy with dignity and respect after the war is over and you have won. During the war, when they are trying they are trying their best to kill you, demonize them any way you can. With the Germans it was easy. My uncle was on Omaha beach, later the battle of the bulge. He said that he had more respect for the Germans, they operated more professionally. This was the viewpoint of what he encountered at the time snd no way absolves the cruelty that took place in the holocaust.

In green valley, lunch at the Arizona Family restaurant french dip Au Jus.
I have never understood why a restaurant would make a french dip on soft bread. The point of the AuJus is that it softens the crunchy dinner roll. A soft bread you get dough.🙄

That's a great looking pipe, and a great looking pup, Bob. 👍 Legend has it that the person assigned to be a churchwarden smoked that style pipe so they could hang their pipe out the window during service, and the long stem allowed them to poke the ribs of those dozing. That dozing pup doesn’t want a poking in the Bobtist church.

I recently searched out an item at Home Depot and clicking through the reviews every contributor admitted that they received compensation for reviewing a unit that they probably got for free. Of course, it was all five star reviews.
I wonder how many reviews elsewhere are never declared… Amazon products that ship from China are notoriously fake reviewed.

Brad smokes so many cigars, just the smoke rolling off him repels mosquitos. But… if the wife thinks it is the-plants she bought it is a win-win.

Certainly not a Radice! 😁 I suppose that you are going to pursue this mystery? Remember when internet searches worked. If you typed it in boolean, you got the answer you were looking for. Same with early Amazon and eBay. Not the searches are just to sell us stuff we don't want. You’re right on Internet searches. My wife and I are planning a vacation in Orlando but we are not theme park people. While researching what we might see or do while there, I almost entered the search term "Orlando for adults" and then realized I would not get the results I was looking for. In case anyone is wondering why Orlando in July plus not being theme park folks? Well, I waited too long to book a condo with our timeshare. The only availability was Orlando, Phoenix, or Palm Desert. 🤷♂️ At least we will be able to visit my cousin and his family. Plus, Kennedy Space Center. Well go ahead and blow off the opportunity to hang with the Arizona pipe club. 😉 I hear you though, tough to be hemmed in by the constraints.

Anybody see the Northern Lights tonight? I have a friend in AL who could see them, but I couldn't. She has a lot less light pollution than I do. Ain’t happening in the southwest. At the urging of daveinlax last night I could not see a rocket launch at night. Doesn’t help to be in electric cities.😉
