I hope your folks are OK. Others, too, of course. I hadn’t heard about this yet.

The little coons are dead. Mom abandoned them yesterday and they died during a damp and cold night. There were only two. This is nature’s way and I have no right to any expectations.

We've been under a tornado watch all afternoon/evening - expires soon. Hail a few miles away. Doesn't look like we'll get anything. The sky is looking a little green though.

I believe that Nature is neither cruel nor kind. It simply IS. Take it or leave it. It doesn’t care either way. Its ISNESS always wins over our projections.

Full and wonderful day today. Among other things: - Picked up a new handgun. - Filtered the latest batch of wine. A Cabernet Sauvignon. - Harvested some herbs from my new herb garden. It's in the garage under lights until good weather, but already producing thyme, basil, chives and sage. - Helped the wife try out a couple of new recipes. - Now a pipe and bourbon

I believe that Nature is neither cruel nor kind. It simply IS. Take it or leave it. It doesn’t care either way. Its ISNESS always wins over our projections. According to human perception, it is both simultaneously. Recently, a cat attacked a baby bunny in our back yard. This cat is well fed and had no interest in eating the poor creature, only playing with / torturing it. Just one of hundreds of examples. Tell a pre-menopausal woman about how nature "IS". Lol

Imposing human concepts like cruelty and benevolence on “nature” is a is an outgrowth of human apexianism, IMO. I am not an apexian.

As we are part of Nature ourselves, it's impossible not to impose our own perception upon our direct experiences. There is perception bias, of course, whether it be apexian, christian or other.

Cool. Nothing like a new gat to lighten the heart, and the wallet. I own only one SA: a Factory Comp (45) from the mid-80s. Good shooter but I hardly use it any more. Have fun!

Well crap! My furnace is acting up. House is a 66⁰F. Thermostat is set at 70⁰F. Thermostat is demanding heat according to the blinking image of a flame on the thermostat. Furnace fan is running. No flame. No heat. It did this March 4th and then started working again. Repairman replaced a part anyway. Been fine ever since. We did have a power flicker last night. Maybe something was damaged. Going to have to call my furnace guy in the morning.

Replaced batteries in thermostat, fixed. Doh!

When I want more heat, I had a split or two of wood. Easy peasy! Cavemen have been doing it for years!

Headed to Las Vegas tomorrow with a former coworker that I previously had no inkling of his talkative nature… two days on a Tucson ride was hell. Going on a three day run!

My wife and I visited our daughter and son-in-law this weekend. We celebrated our anniversary with dinner on Friday (the kids' treat!). Yesterday, we did our usual routine. SIL and I went to a B&M (mostly a cigar shop, but they have pipes and tinned tobacco, too) and bought several tins of tobacco and chatted with the owner. The girls went to their fancy doughnut shop to buy dessert for the evening. We met across the street at an Irish-style pub for lunch. I actually had the Irish breakfast plate. First time trying black AND white pudding. Supposedly imported from Ireland. Pretty tasty, no liver detected in either mixture. Smithwick's instead of coffee.
