95° here this afternoon. Don’t remember such a hot April day in the past. An omen of summer-to-come perchance.

A day like that I would be eating raspberries and cream, too. Here it is like the Oklahoma Dust Bowl of the 1930s. Howling winds and darkness from huge dust clouds as the soil is blown off of the desiccated fields and into the air. Any sand worms? Not yet but sand dunes forming on the highway fences.

Hellacious winds last night. Knocked out our power, but only for about 30 minutes. Our electric co-op guys are the best. No matter the weather they get it back on.

Winds calm now. Last night sounded like an unending freight train rumbling past. No outages but a brief flicker or two. Our REA Co-op has made great improvements over the past decade or so to maintain reliability. Replacing old and deteriorated poles for one.

This is crazy. Yesterday: 95° and late afternoon high winds. Today: 38° and 50MPH winds. I guess winter wants to get in a few more licks.

It is indeed interesting to live where the weather can kill you year-around.

Nice day here today. Upper 60's and sunny. Temps cooler than other parts of town, due to proximity to Lake St. Clair. Spent the afternoon doing yardwork. Felt good to be out. I'll be sore tomorrow.

Glad I had a heavy load and a 10-wheeler this week with a low profile box. It really caused havoc nort of Flagstaff with the tunnel fire, the snow had just melted, and a hellacious fire set in, glad I got up to the reservation on the US 89 before it got shut down, that would have been a long detour. Another one sparked north of Wickenburg closing the route to Vegas. It is going to be a long fire season, I reckon. I like this pic, looks like a dragon in the foreground, shoulder to shoulder mummified people in back.

This is the fourth time over several years that I contacted Marty Pulvers about a pipe I was interested. This is the fourth time he responded by “Oh that already sold”.
Pretty much a waste of time bothering with his site.

Pretty much a waste of time bothering with his site. Must be frustrating! It is frustrating dealing with absent site owners but it still beats getting a pipe mailer later than others and finding everything gone. Sadly Marty lost his wife last month and I don’t think his heart is in it these days.

Sadly Marty lost his wife last month and I don’t think his heart is in it these days. I am certainly sorry to hear of the loss of his wife, and out of respect I will spare the details of the past, but it is as if I am blackballed from ever successfully getting something from his site. I guess I will just use the site for current market price comparison.

It's been windy here in Illinois for a couple days. Now it raining. Took the time to process the lastest batch of wine. Racked (siphoned) it off the sediment. In a week, I'll filter it. In another week, I'll bottle it.

The River of Wind has calmed a bit. Temp up to 55°, too. A nice change. Got to spend some time on the deck sorting 308 cases. Dogs like it, too. Said to be a nice week coming up. March says it’s going out like a lamb but I’ll believe it when I see it.

The other day I had to get into my stash needed a new pair of boots. Got a pair of White's Smoke Jumper non lace toe. Then I found out someone else now owns the company. So down to two other contenders to rebuild my old ones either Drew's in Eugene Or or Nick's in Spokane Wa. Hope to two pairs rebuilt this year. Maybe have Drew's build me a pair of corks we will see how much I really need them next month. Then today while weed eating I broke a pain on the bedroom window it was over 30 yards from where I was weed eating crap I hate wasting money when I screw up. The new Stihl weed eater has more power than the last one. FS131 keep adjusting the handles for better weight balance.

Sheesh! Have I lost a month? Well, calendars aren’t that much fun anyway. :^/ That whippersnapper had you distracted for a while. No excuses. Living like I do, on the far perimeter of the calendar-conscious world, time slips past and one day is pretty much indistinguishable from the next. Sunday (which used to be the cruelest day) means no more than Monday or any other. Months count for a bit more, but then— who cares?

It looks like my son in law and daughter and kids will be moving to County Kildare Ireland for a spell, he works for Intel.
I smell a trip coming up.

There’s a huge old cottonwood just a few feet from the back door to the big shop. It has a hole about 4 feet of the ground and angling down. Today Eli got very interested in that hole so I knew there was something afoot as he’s never wrong. Yep.
