Kinda cool here today— 41° this morning. Down south a bit they are expecting a snow “event.” We were s’posed to get it but it’s been dropped for our menu for the time being. I refuse to start the furnace again, not ‘til October by gar. Got a fire going in the fireplace and running the overhead fan. Their couch is close to the hearth so the dogs are happy.
Also got the notice that my newly-stemmed Dunhill is on its way home from Briarville. Huzzah! (Will report on it when it gets here.)

I must be one of the last humans on the planet without a smart phone. My new auto insurance company has told me that my policy premium will increase by $170 per year because I do not have a smart phone with which they can monitor my driving habits. I do not mind being monitored since I am old and drive like it. So, it seems the time has come for me to add a Smart Phone to the portfolio of annoyances plaguing me. I refuse to spend more than $200 on this contraption. So, it seems a Samsung A12 might work. Anyone have experience with this device? I signed up for the tracking that was supposed to save me money. I drove like a stoned nun for a month and the score was miserable. I changed companies.

AC quits blowing and freezes up every day at 6pm. The repair guys get off at 5:30. The next day it comes on again.

Owing to the humidity, the condenser would ice over and the unit stop working. Deicing was the only fix. Check the drain line.

Sheared "Harold", my five year old Ram. He had not been sheared in three years and looked like a blimp. Must have been forty pounds of wool on him! He looks much better and is far happier. He is always a good boy when handled and gives little trouble. Still, it is slow going with a hand shears. Shearing is slow work so as to not nick him. Left a good inch and one half of wool on him for sun shade and insulation. Cold still at night. Snow still possible.

One of my favorites in Ireland was to attend sheep shearing contests. NZ shearers always put on a good show, shearing a sheep in 2 minutes or less. I think the record is or was held by an Irishman though: something under 40 seconds. Great fun to watch and often conducted in a field behind a pub which should be an absolute requirement for all such events…

It's something electronic. Why do they put computers in stuff that doesn't need it?

Are you going to be able to sell the wool, or at least give it to someone who will use it?

I could use it to stuff sleeping bags!

I had one, it worked well even on the budget networks I use.

We’re now under a freeze warning. No wonder gardeners don’t plant anything here ‘til after Memorial Day.

I drove like a stoned nun for a month and the score was miserable. I changed companies. I refused vehemently to use any form of vehicle tracking for insurance when they threatened me with the same. After they realized I was serious, they never ended up charging me the extra threats. I'll also switch insurance companies in a heartbeat if I need to, and it's a good idea to shop around every six months or so. Mine is currently doing a great job, for now.
Oh and as far as older Android devices; do not buy one. Google only provides a measly 3 years of software support. If you want an older and cheaper phone, absolutely buy a $150 deal on an iPhone 8 from somewhere. Shop around for it. You can get one on StraightTalk for a decent deal and not be locked into a plan, only paying $35 a month for unlimited talk/text and 10GB a month worth of included data. At any time, you can stop paying, no contract and the service is over the Verizon network. You can shop for these in person in a Walmart, or you can browse on their website.

Actually recalling the livid conversation I had with my wife and insurance rep, they threatened me with charging me $1,000 more per year. I said, I would gladly either pay $1k extra a year for no vehicle tracking, or look elsewhere today. Immediately they said "Well sir, it looks like we can still offer you the discount." Whole insurance industry is a scam, and I'm fighting a lawsuit against Liberty Mutual and paying my own insurance company a $1k deductible just to get my car fixed from someone covered by Liberty Mutual hitting me while I was stopped at a traffic light. Since I'm paying for it through my insurance and it was their fault, and Liberty Mutual subrogates for weeks and attempts to dodge all liability, my insurance is pursuing them legally.

I had Liberty Mutual. I never had a claim but they doubled my insurance rates the second year.

Woke up this morning started driving to the store. Thud thud massive steering wheel shake. Pulled over Massive split in the tread on one tire. Atleast the tire shop was around the corner.

I had Liberty Mutual. I never had a claim but they doubled my insurance rates the second year. Then I will be gone the next year. They were the only insurance company I found willing to insure my home. A bundle, car and home. Farmers, State Farm, Progressive, Esurance (Allsatate), Hartford all turned me down as there has not been coverage in ten years or so..
